I didn't have my son snipped as I preferred to leave him as he was born, but if he has any hassles then I wouldn't hesitate to have the op done. I wouldn't have the next boy done though as complications are not common. xxx

I think you should definitely do it since there is a medical reason behind it.

Unfortunately you did make a personal choice and now it seems medically he can't have that choice for him. It is unfortunate, but your little one's health is at risk.

You then need to decide if you will do the newborn too, just so that they are both the same, or if you want to try leave him "intact" and see how it goes for the new baby. He may never get infections, however, it is more painful the older they are and therefore it is advised to do it younger.

hi mommyhelga
my eldest son ,had him sircimsize also due to constant infection and with the infection there was a high fever. Also i dont like kids to be on meds all the time.

because he was so small 3yrs we decided to have the procedure done in hospital and not at the surgery.the operation was done with local anestetic and he was 30min in theate.and with kids they heal very quickly.he was walking 1hr later.only cried with the first urine movement.

there was no cleaning of stitches or bandages.the penis heals on its own.

today i think its the best disission i have ever made.no more infections.
my 11wk son was not done in hospital ,had to get authorisation from medical aid and what a long drama when you already in hospital and i wanted the same doctor to do the procedure and he does not operate for that hospital.

planning to do the same to seth when he is 6mths,gives me enough time to get the medical aids approval.
rather do it in hospital the recovery is better and they asleep.(dont think i can handle the crying while doing the procedure and no we not allowed in the theate)

hope this answer the question

Nice meeting you and welcome :)

I don't have boys, so I'm probably not the right person to try and help :) , but when I expected my 1st baby, I was told she was a boy and I was thinking of doing it as her biological dad is / was Jewish and also because I heard at the time that it was better, but if I had to have a boy now, I don't think I will do it.

But now with your eldest having all these problems, it might be better to do them both and get it over and done with. The older they are the more difficult it is. Shame man.

I would make very very sure I get a really, really good doctor to do the procedure. Try to find a doctor that does lots of Jewish boys :)

Hi fellow mommies
I'm from Bloem and new to the site.
I am a mom of 2 (boy-4 and girl-2!) and soon 3 (another little boy!)
I really need some advice from you all
I have been advised that my eldest need to go for a circumcision. He has had 6 quite severe urinary infections due to a pinhole foreskin (twice hospitalised for antibiotics)
I'm in two minds whether to go ahead and have him snipped straight away AND, if we decide to have it done whether we should have little brother (due in 2 weeks)done at birth as well.
I would really appreciate your input: did you circumcise/not, what were your reasons, did you witness the procedure, were you happy with your decision, would you do it again?
Thanks for helping and nice meeting you all!
