Spinal Headaches: Migraines after C-Section

Thanks Reluctant mom, i am lucky in taht front i have help at home and my mom is here and she is helping with the baby and with the current pain killers i have better relief for most of the day

Thamu, I really feel sorry for you.

I only know one person who has had this, and it was excrutiating for her. Shame chick, I hope (really I do) it will pass quickly and you will up and on the go soon.

I hope you have help to manage even the basic stuff so you can get some rest.

Thanks Julzdylan, i think there is not much tat can be done really except to wait for the pain to wear off and well 3 weeks scares me, for now the Ibubrufen seems to be working very well. Unfortunately since i went to the maternity (public) hospital and its past 7 days i will have to go to the big public hospital and start afresh. I guess for nw i will have to wait it out with the medicines i have.

Thamu, my friend had headaches for about 3 weeks. She was in alot of pain and hubby had to take off work to look after the baby as she was flat on her back. There wasn't much they could do other than to give her pain meds so chat to the doc and see if there is something they can give that will help you more.

Yes Reluctant Mom, thats the one you are referring to, its caused by Dural Puncture during the spinal injection. How long did your friend last with the pain, as i seem to be riding on it on and on and on

I stand totally under correction for this ...

A friend of mine had severe headaches etc after the birth of her baby. I can't recall (memory not so good today) if she had a c-section or a vaginal birth, but she did have epidural either way.

The point being that where the point of entry was for epidural needle she had leaked "spinal fluid (sorry not sure of the correct name)" which had set off a chronic head ache and had her bed ridden for a few days.

Possibly it is a side effect of the procedure, possibly it is a "leak" at the point of entry.

I am not sure how to resolve the issue - if you flag it with your medical practitioner or you simply stay in a horizontal position, not sure if someone else here can offer more insight into this as a possibility.

Thanks Ladies looks like I have to ride through th pain. Unfortunately at the Mowbray Maternity where th Op was done they can Not do anything. As I am past th 7 days after c-section, but th Obstretician on call there said not much can be done as the pain clears on its own. Tonight th pain could no longer respond to paracetamol fortunately had ibubrufen and its cleared th pain. I would love to hear how others coped with this pain.
