Thanks for the response ladies.

Our relationship is fine now, well, we have the occasional confrontation, but nothing major. Certainly worlds different to how it was.

I don't use "others are doing it" as a reason, it's just that it's a constant reminder to me. I'm sure he'd raise a serious eyebrow at me if I ever did try use that move!

Yeah Julz, I hear you that it should be both parties that need to be ready, and that was of course my fairytale. Funny that you should mention your sister's story as I feel like I'm at that point which is why I reached out to your guys for some more info.

I love my husband dearly, and I want nothing more than to have HIS children, but I have no idea how long this is going to go on for and I am at the point where I am weighing up my options.

I have spoken to him about why he doesn't want to and he doesn't think we're in the right place yet. I respect that, but by the same token, I am starting to wonder if he'll ever be happy enough with me to want to have children with me again.

I am just in a panic that I'll spend so long trying to "fix" this that I'll completely ruin my chances of ever being a mother. So yeah, it's interesting to hear of your sisters story Julz.

*sigh* I know you guys can't fix it, but it just feels good to get it off my chest!

I was 34 when I fell pregnant. Found out on my birthday. We are not married and will never marry. We wanted to enjoy our lives first so we left it quite late and I waited until n was ready. We were together for 7 years when I concieved. Having a baby is something you both have to want so I really didn't pressure N at all. Turns out I had a fertility issue and we started trying about 6 months before we had said we would.

I recon it takes both partners to be truly committed to having a child. If your hubby isn't ready, he probably has his reasons and they should be respected as should your thinking on the matter. My sister actually split from her relationship because her partner didn't want kids and she did. It was hard but very mature of her not to push him into somthing he may have regreted which would probably have ended in him resenting her and the child.

Mom of Dylan and Partner to Joerg. We live in the Beautiful Pringle Bay which is along the Whale coast, Cape.

I was 23, and DH and I had agreed to try after 1 year of marriage.
However the second baby I fought with DH for a year to get him to agree to try for a second.

I wouldn't mention to your Dh that "everyone else" is doing it, cause thats not a reason to ttc.
How is your relationship currently? If strong, then surely you should be able to rationally talk to him and find out exactly why he isn't wanting a child. He may have what seems to him, very valid reasons. Maybe sit and go through these reasons and see what you can do to ease his mind.

Hello ladies,

I have been a part of the forum for a few months now, just checking in and reading as I have nothing to contribute as I have no hope of being a mommy any time soon.

I would like to know how old you all were before you had your first LO and if you too had to have an ongoing battle with DH to convince him that it was time. Maybe also how long you had been married or with your DH before you had your LO?

I'm desperately wanting to join the belly bunch. DH and I decided to try a few years back, but with no luck in those 6 months, then we hit a rough patch and stopped TTC. We're years past that now, and I just can't seem to get him back on the same page. Just isn't the fairytale I imagined, not at all.

Literally all of my close friends are either mom's already, or preggers, or are TTC and it's just a constant reminder. I find it very hard not to get angry with DH. I'm 28 now, and whilst that may not be that old to be worrying about this, I am not getting any younger and I honestly see no hope of changing DH's mind in the near future.

Would love to hear what your experience was like.
