file How old were you when you had your 1st baby?

We were married 2 and a half years and I was 38 when I fell pregnant, totally unplanned. 2nd marriages for both me and dh. He already had 2 sons and did not want anymore kids. I would have loved to be a mommy, but was willing to give it up for him. I never had kids before.

When I told him I was pregnant, he burst into tears. He was so happy! And still is! Our lb turned 1 last month and is the apple of his daddy eye!

Maybe your dh are scared of something. He might feel he will not be a good father. Or be scared that it would spoil your relationship.

Hope you can sort this out! Good luck!

I was 25 when i had my first had been married for 3 years, we wanted a family immediately when we got married went off the pill just 2 months after we got married, but it did not happen for us very soon, it took ages. Now we are ttc for no2, we talked about it, my husband wanted to start when my son was only 1, i did not agree as i wanted him to have all the attention and love, and i don't think i would have coped to have 2 kids under 2 years, at least now he is 30 months, so if it happens for us soon, when baby is born he will be 3

Hey, we got married when I was 32 and had our daughter when I was 35 and my DH 38. He always said that if we have children if would be fine, if we don't, that would be fine. So when I said I want to start trying for a baby he had the attitude of okay... whatever...

When our daughter arrived in July 2009 he went ga-ga... You have not seen such a hands-on and smitten father. My mother one day commented that she is so amazed that someone not that keen to become a father is so involved and happy to spend time with his daughter.

I know I am lucky and very blessed because it could have gone so the other way... and I can tell you now that I would not have been able to cope with a baby and an un-involved father...

I was 27 when I fell pregnant with my LG

DH and I weren't married yet but the things quickly were arranged and we got married 4 months after she was born in April 2008.

Hope your DH comes around.

It really is tough when both parties are not on the same page. I guess for me the waiting was easy as being in a realtionship with Neil was more important to me than having kids. I know that when we started dating he said he knew that I loved kids and that he was prepared to consider having them with me which was totally against his previous plans. I also knew that I really didn't want to be a single mom so it was important for him to support me when it came to having kids. Rather no kids and him than kids and no him.

Like mm says communication is really important. He has his reasons and if your relationship is really strong, you should be able to discuss this without hurting each other.

If the reasons are financial then you may want to look at your current budgets. Having a child puts tremendous strain on any budget, but regardless of how much money you have, your child will use every last penny of it. In a good way that is.

One thing I can honestly say (speaking for myself that is) is that no matter how strong your relationship is, a baby is going to wreck it for a while. A strong relationship with weather the storm. A rocky relationship may very well crumble. I was really confident of our strong relationship, but having a baby was really difficult for us and not just for a month or two , but for a good few years.

Hi Mommy WannaB

My hubby and I have been married for 7 years. He wanted children since the day we got married, I was the one who felt we were not ready yet and I didn't feel like becoming a mother yet. So, he waited- every 6 months or so he would touch on the subject and then we would just carry on. He never pressured me and he waited patiently (obviously we did clarify before we got married that we both wanted children)

Two years ago I just started feeling that I am ready - so I stopped the pill. It has been 2 years with no success yet, and if I fall pregnant soon, I will be 31 when the baby is born.

Just you know how your relationship is doing, but my advice would be, if you really love him, give him some time. I really appreciated my hubby giving me 5 years to decide for myself, although we are struggling now.

Good luck!
