I am currently 'reviewing' my maternity care choices based on the birth experience I would prefer. While my current gynae is very pro-choice I am starting to have hesitations about her 'style', she sometimes seems a bit non-chalant to me. Further to this the hospital where she practices,while it is a lovely hospital, doesn't have all the facilities I would prefer. This has lead me to question whether you should choose your hospital and then your caregiver or your caregiver and then your hospital.
Initially I was drawn to Genesis Clinic but due to fear of the unknown decided to go the conservative route and choose a gynae at a hospital. I am however now wondering if I am making the right decision and am revisiting the idea of a midwife led birth at Genesis. My main fear of going this route is what happens if there is a complication later in my pregnancy that prevents me from giving birth naturally would I need to find a gynae in a hurry?
If anyone has given birth or has a friend that has given birth at Genesis, personal experiences will be appreciated. Did the environment meet your expectations, did you have any complications, how did you choose your midwife etc.
