lightbulb leaking amniotic fluid in 2nd trimester

13 years 3 months ago #238948 by naaz
5 litres???? I take a break at night cos the kidneys need a rest too! That is a lot of liquids to down everyday! But having liquids also assist in flushing out continuously so the bacteria doesn't get a chance up there!

I'm going to check up where to get the coconut water from... Hopefully it could possibly help

What honestly keeps me motivated is that I took the risk and gave her a chance instead of terminating - that alone helps me daily to cope ...

Will keep u posted ...

haha, definitely sounds like you're doing well with the liquids then.

I think the coconut water has extra nutrients or something in it. Not entirely sure. Just know I've heard a lot of people say it's very good for increasing amniotic fluid.

Wow, just did another quick google and reading people were told to drink 5 litres of fluid per day! No idea how anyone can drikn that much in one day!
I did read though that the coconut water has loads of vitamins and minerals and various other things that are great for pregnancy and fluid increase. Might be worth trying (you could replace a glass of water with a glass of coconut water).

Inspiring stories are definitely helpful to keep one's spirits up. And given that you have managed to hang on this far after the initial leak is really great and very encouraging.

Good luck and please keep us posted!

Thanks Huggles means a lot! I'm in Durban, think there's a lot of places to find out about coconut water so just by mentioning it, its of great help - I've seen coconut milk wonder if that would help?!

There's a site ( South african) called Parenting and there are cases of babies being born as early as 26 weeks and there was even one that was born at 5 months weighing only 500g and she survived! Inspiring stories just help to keep positive - no matter what the outcome

Never read about coconut water but I guess u could also get it from fresh coconuts aswell.... I've been drinking about 2 and half litres of water daily (not to mention to the toilets every half hour!) And I've been having a lot of fresh milk by the time I'm done with the liquids I can hardly eat solids!

Yes, 28 weeks would definitely be the best. Even by 26 weeks there's a much better chance, but I think from 28 weeks everythign starts looking a whole lot better.

If you'd like me to look into where to source coconut water for you just let me know where you live (which city/suburb) and I'll see what I can find. I'm in cape town, not really all that clued up on any of the other cities but sure google can help.

I've read also that it doesn't have an odour... So I'm hoping that's what's keeping her going daily

I also wish there was such a thing, I read on baby centre something about amnioinfusion - but doctors here don't really look into those options -maybe cos they don't have the resources I don't know :(

This week will be 24 weeks so I'm praying we can pull thru until 28weeks and she weighs up aswell by then. I asked the doc about assisting a premature baby and he mentioned either by 28weeks or weight of about 1kg.... We are halfway there hopefully she makes it
