6 week scan no heartbeat :-(

Has anyone else experienced this?

A couple of weeks ago i posted that i found out that i was preggers At the time, according to my LMP, i should have been roughly 9 weeks along.

Had my first gynae app and scan on 14 July, where we couldnt see anything using normal ultrasound. Doc then did a transvaginal ultrasound and detected a yolk sac. She advised that this is a 2-3 week pregnancy and that i possibly tested way to early for an accurate date.

When i googled what i saw, it said a 5 week pregnancy...so assumed that the doc might have been wrong. That would make me 8 weeks this week (my guestimation) but on Monday, i had a follow up scan and the doc measured a 6 week pregnancy, with no heartbeat She advised that it may just be too early to have detected a heartbeat and that we could either do a follow up sonar in 2 weeks or have blood tests done to determine HGC levels.

I opted for the blood test, as i really couldnt see myself waiting another 2 weeks.

I will have a follow up blood test tomorrow, following which, the doc would be able to determine if baby is growing as it should or if im miscarrying.

I feel so terribly overwhelmed by all of this.

I suppose i could blame my irregular cycles for all the uncertainty in dating the pregnancy, and maybe i should just trust my gynae and wait for the blood test results before i stress myself into an absolute spin.

This is my first pregnancy, and hubby is so excited (but also sad as he says that all my doc appointments have been dissapointing).

Has anyone else experienced anything like this....am i worrying over nothing?
