Thank you ladies for all your advice and reassurance.

I have a follow up blood test later today...praying that the HGC levels have doubled!

All this uncertainty is killing me...but i will be patient.

Hi Iasid

I would with the ladies about doing scans too early. I will doing my scan at about 8-10 weeks because most doctors say that at times the Baba is still to small to see. Try relax and go back to gynea at about 8-10 weeks.
I know its easier said then done but being tense will not help the you in any way.
good luck

Hi Iasis

Dont lose hope yet... same thing happened to me with my firstborn... also went at 6 weeks and it was too early to pick up a heartbeat. We went back 2 weeks later and lo and behold - a perfect little heartbeat...

Hang in there... praying that the same thing happens to you.

In the meantime the blood tests now and 48hours later again will definitely pick up if the HCG count is doubling as it should.

Hi Iasid,

Sorry to hear about all the uncertainty, I think it is normal to worry and it is quite challenging to have the mindset to let just nature takes it course (although we all know it is true...).

Some doctors only do scans at 8 weeks or later due to the major disappointment one experiences when one doesn't see the heartbeat at 6 weeks. Sometimes it is just too early and then the mother stresses herself into a state, all for no reason.

Just to give you an idea that many doctors don't scan as early as 6 weeks for this exact reason.

Hang in there! xx

Hi iasis

I'm currently 20 weeks pregnant with twins. My first scan was at 6.5 weeks and then the Dr saw 2 yolk sacs but only one heartbeat. We also thought that the one just didn't develop but then 2 weeks later there were 2 perfect heartbeats. 6 weeks is sometimes just to early to see the heartbeat!!
Keeping all thumbs and fingers crossed for you, please keep us updated!!

Goodluck!!!

Hey hun, you mentioned that you had irregular cycles so you may have your dates all wrong.

The blood tests would definitely tell you what is happening. The best is to do another HCG blood test 48 hours after the first one to see if your levels are doubling like they should.

I sincerely hope all is ok and your little bean is growing like it should. Hang in there. Good luck xx
