normal birth anyday. better for mom and baby.

i had 1 med free hypnobirth and will do the same with my 2nd baby due in 5 weeks.

i would not go for epidural as it takes away the feeling and then you do not know when to push and you cannot feel the contractions.
it scares me that you will then have no control over your body and baby could more easily go into distress.

in my personal opinion, the moment they start interfering the chances of a emergency Csec goes up emediately. your body is perfectly designed to give birth naturally.

even though it is sore, the pain is really not the biggest issue. if you do not focus on the pain, then it is just in the background.
my labour was 22 hours and only the last hour was the contractions intense and really painful, but never so that i felt i couldn't handle it.

me 35, DH 39

Thanks ladies, natural birth for me as well but I'm opting for that epidural cause I'm a little scared of the pain.... :pinch:  Don't know what to expect.

@Nix - Its my first too so I'm trying to gather as much info as possible and research all my options. Will have too look into hypno birth ..... first time I hear of it.

Nix, my second birth was a hypnobirth and it was so amazing. By far the easiest.

Natural birth, and then decide when I am in labour if I want an epidural :p

But, honestly few years down the line it will not matter much whether you had a c section or vaginal birth.

I would also choose natural birth, I don't want an epidural but I will remain open minded as it is my first so have no idea what it will be like. I am quite interested in learning more about hypno-birthing.

Babydreaming, I am sure you are going to get some hot replies. I can only tell you my experience. My *personal opinion* is that I would never want an epidural when giving birth, for the reason that I want to feel what is going on. :-)

Each person is different though. I have given birth three times, no meds, once at my midwife's house.

You can have a read through our Birth Series and read real birth stories.
