Hi Ladies

I am also pro-natural, however ended up having two C-sections.

All I can advise is prepare yourself for both.

I was so set on natural that I skipped all sections in the maternity books and the antenatal class on c-sections. For the baby's safety we had to go c-section and I was completely terrified and unprepared for it. Don't do yourself the disservice I did, plan for your natural birth but do prepare yourself mentally for plan B, ie a c-section.

Normal birth was discussed in my antenatal class on Monday. At this point I'm hoping for a normal birth, but keeping an open mind in case I end up needing a c-section. I'm hoping that just using gas for pain will be sufficient. I don't want to be overconfident regarding my pain tolerance, but I don't want pethidine and an epidural doesn't sound good to me.

Hi Babydreaming88

If you need an episiotomy the dr will inject a local anaesthetic :)

Hi ladies

I am also having my first and I am going all natural even if I have little doubts at times, I know I am strong and can handle it, I guess it's the fear of the unknown. I am due in September and giving birth at genesis

ADVICE PLS
I want to do hypnobirthing bt I find the classes are a bit expensive for me, is there a good dvd I can buy, nd from where, nd for how much? And is there a pregnancy yoga dvd I can get? Thanx

I planned for normal births but ended up with 2 C-sections.
In my personal opinion its about that moment when u about to give birth and dr says baby is in distress and you have no choice but to choose what's best for the baby.....
My eldest was born blue and cord around her neck,so c-sec was the only option for me and I was scared as hell but it was not sooo bad.
I would how-ever love to have normal birth(if I can ) with my 3rd....but we will see how that goes.
I feel I was somehow robbed of giving normal birth and the worst thing was that I could not breastfeed as my milk took for-ever to come.

Thank you ladies!

What if you tear or have to have an episiotomy? Doesn't that hurt if you have no meds and its completely natural?

I really don't want to have a C unless I have to. This is scary stuff ladies. LOL!

Ahh StellaK You took the words right out of my mouth...

I echo her sentiments to the T. I too had 2 drug-free natural births... the epidural scared me to no end!

So while you are busy with all your research, research how, and why, an epidural (and all sorts of other drugs used during labour) increase your chances of having an emergency C-section...

All the best with your decision!
