Hi Ladies
mommywannaB- I had a manual breastpump which was single. At he time I had no issues with it. In hindsight, I had lots of milk so when I needed to pump I just squeezed the boob and milk would just flow out. I only really expressed when the hectic flow started. I found the cleaning and sterilizing too much work

so most times I just squeezed with my hand by boob to express. (Note- I had lots of milk). I had to hold a bottle against each boob because you press the one side the other boob starts to flow as well
So in hindsight, an electrical one would have made more sense for me but I found that my son had put himself on a 4 hour routine. He would sleep for 4 hours straight and feed every four hours unless he had a growth spurt. If my boobs got really hectic i expressed and kept that milk for MIL when she came over and would give her a chance to feed.
For me, I expressed Milk when I knew I would have visitors like family, it make sense to have them do something to bond with baby by feeding him. Plus we quickly topped up with formula. As much milk as I had it was not enough for my boy. So he would cry after feeding on both breasts. Found he was happier with the top up. When we did top up I made formula for the family to feed him when they came to visit.
I know it doesn't help but I think if you feed your child on demand the breast pump may not be a necessity until you go back to work.
