Its a tough one!

I would not have wanted to grow up alone, even if it meant less money. If you are able to, a sibling is the best gift you can give to a child. It leaves him/her someone when the parents are no longer there.

Personally, I wanted only one child, but we had a little surprise, and our youngest is such a blessing! Financially, you will always figure something out.

I cannot tell you how to get over it, but I think it needs to be a joint decision between you and your hubby. It cannot be purely his decision and it cannot be purely yours. One way or another, one of you needs to buy into the other's choice, otherwise one of you will be unhappy.

All the best

That is a very tough one. My hubby grew up as an only child and he said he wouldn't want the same when our little one comes. He says it was lonely

I feel your pain Tanya, and I have two, but have yearned for that third one...

That decision has now been taken out of my hands as my husband went for the snip - citing those very same reasons your husband has... we are in Midstream and everything is too expensive...

All the best with coming to term with his decision, its not easy!

Hi Everyone, hoping to get some advice from those of you with experience in the matter…. We have a 17 month old little girl and I would like another, but my husband doesn’t. So I am not to happy right now about it. He says we should focus on the one we have and give her as much as we can. He states our age (we are both 36) and financial reasons as his theory. Private schools and crèche is very expensive on our side of jhb and then there is medical aid, the need for a bigger house etc etc. Part of me says yes to this but another doesn’t want her to grow up alone without a sibling. It makes me very sad.

Those of you whom have only one child, what are your thoughts and advice? And how do I get over the fact that I wont have another, don’t know how to get it out of my head so I can just focus on moving forward.
