I agree with KimBB. I was with Dr Puzey and he was all pro-natural up until 31 weeks. He said my fluid was low and my baby hadnt turned yet and just booked me for a caesar at 37 weeks. I had done all my research, so I knew a baby can turn at any time, up until 37 weeks, and even after that, baby can still turn. I also read that you can increase your fluid by drinking lots of water. So I left the arguments with him because he refused to listen to anything I had to say, got a midwife, Angela Wakeford, drank 3 litres of water a day and did all the things to help my baby turn. Well, guess what, baby turned, fluid more than doubled and I gave birth within 20 to 30mins of arriving at the hospital at 38 weeks and 3 days, my midwife running in as my baby popped on the bed, no drugs. I am so weary when it comes to gynaes, but I must say my standby gynae, Dr Jacqui Searle is amazing. She is helpful, always calls me back if I have an issue, and is pronatural and lets your midwife do her thing and only steps in if need be.

That's interesting Julz - the midwives I have spoken to all seem to think that a female gynae was a better bet for a natural..
I am collating a list of the best gynaes for natural now and once a few more have seen calm birth I will go and see them and get them to start a referral exchange..

Nef after chatting to moms here I get the feeling that female gynaes in general are more inclined to push for c sections from the start and seem to have less empathy for their patients. I agree that it is a general gynae thing and not male vs female and know this is a very general statement, but just something I have noticed.

I disagree with Recent mummie :-) That is very much a gynae to gynae trend and not male vs female!

I had a mom last week had a beautiful painfree natural HypnoBirth with a female gynae in CT, the gynae even called in some of the midwives to see the birth apparently she said "This is why you became miwives - this is amazing"

I have had moms with male gynaes that have been told they would support a natural birth and then changed their tact at 36 weeks!

Yip, she is pro-natural, queried my decision for an elective c-sect when I had Brandon (she delivered Liam)

It very much depends on what you are after... some gynaes are better for supporting natural birth, I would recommend a totally different one if someone were looking for an elective cesaer.

I have not had a mom have her baby with Dr Victor yet but hear she is very good.
