We also go to bed together, well used to but these days I like to lay in bed and watch TV with the electric blanket on and usually fall asleep long berfore 10pm lOL

Simone- is it wooden or metal? Mine is wooden so I made these padded sides and screwed them onto the bed but if it's metal I would suggest you'll be better to buy one of the metal bed guards, they start from about R270 at baby city. Those bed guards I was going to make, I saw them in Baby city, called Dream tubes, R600 for the 1 sheet and 2 tubes then I think R300 for extra sheets. Could work out really expensive, especially as you need extra sheets for when they wee the bed. The bed sides I made cost R105 for the chip board cut to size for 3 sides, R30 for the fabric and about R50 for the foam. I guess if you just want one side it'll be a lot cheaper but this bed didn't have a headboard and C hits his head against the wall too so I made a 'side' headboard too. If you have a staple gun you can easily make your own bed sides from chip board foam and fabric.

Huggies gold mommies- What size do you use at night? I used to use 4+ but it was a few months back now so I'm wondering if I should use a 5, I used a 5 pampers but they seemed smaller than huggies gold. I am going to game to get the 2 for R300 special! Thinking to ask DH if I can use credit card to get 4 packs! R150 a jumbo pack of HG is like super cheap!

Those disney beds are plastic, I didn't like the look of that.

I don't think the pic of the bed sides loaded so I'll try and do it from the PC later.

Not sure simone. My friends kids all slept on a mat. on the floor from very young without hassles. Just use a regular mat. or it will be too cold for her. Don't stand bed against wall. It could fall.

Luckily N hates soccer. x :)

Julz any ideas where one finds side rails and what they cost? Ya i thought to put her cot matress on floor and maybe put bed up against wall initially...save on rails for one side..lol.

I hate going to bed alone...been happening alot lately with G working til those terrible hours...but that is all over now. Just if he is watching soccer i may still go to bed cold and alone...but only exception for WC;-)

Nicole I have seen those beds, but am not a huge fan of disney themes. I don't mind the odd things like school case but not the linen and beds. They are cute though and I am sure Dylan would like them.

Simone I remember that bed. x You can buy separate side rails, plus kids generally only fall off the bed a couple times so you can put a mat. next to it to begin with.

ara I hate it when Neil plays games. Need the cuddle. We generally go to bed together though. My rule.

hey Ara...great to see u popping in more now!! Oh Ethan must've loved running around in the water. Really need to get Addy a pair of wellies (as our resident brit calls them;-) )

Vix...we have a lovely frame/single bed..G restored it, painted it a lovely lilac colour. not sure if u'll remember but he surprised me with it. Broken up bed MIL gave us (thanks for broken bed MIL...lol) and he made it so beautiful. Then what do i do about the sides?

Nicole thanks...G and I are very supportive of each other...i find it hard when he shuts me out because he does not do it often. We talk alot. So hopefully we're on the same page now!

R1400 for all that? Nice. What does bed look like?

I'm with Vix though...gonna need to lie with her initially...so will need real bed. I am not tiny like u ladies that may fit into toddler bed...lol.

Nicole R3000??? YIKES! Wonder if i will ever have cash like that to blow for no reason!

Nicole- just be careful about what bed you buy. Like I said to simone, those toddler beds are very low and if your child is likely to need a cuddle in bed occasionally it's going to end up being your bed not theirs because it's way too low for you to be comfy. I fell asleep with C for 2hrs last night, it was so warm and comfy and he didn't even notice me get up and leave. O.k I would've bought C a toddler bed but we already had an old wooden framed single bed which we screwed padded sides onto and actually it was the best choice, I saw the toddler car bed yesterday R3000 no side barriers and sooo low.

Simone- do you have a bed for Addy? If things are tight maybe you could buy a secondhand bed frame, re paint it and just buy a new mattress because even if you finsd a toddler bed for R700 you still need to buy a mattress and find toddler size sheeting to. It's probably cheaper in the long run to get a regular single because you can always find cheap sheeting for singles.

Nelria- hope your check up goes well, I'm sure they'll just pull your stitch out and check you're not struggling. I will try to upload a pic of the bed now but it's very dark on my phone. The 'arm-inz' (carseat straps) I am just going to make a slight change to the design, just from my own experiences with C, I will make one up and bring it through on thursday. Including insured postage they are R120 a set in any colour. C does his own clip up now when I put him in the car.

Simone- thanks for the specials prices, that's great prices!
