Salaams ladies :)

Thought I'd do a post to see if we can revive this thread.

If you've been following the ttc thread or the one I started, you might have heard my exciting news which is that Inshallah I will be travelling to the States next year to do my masters degree :) This means that dh and I have decided to stop ttc until then as we think it might be easier to move and settle and study without a lo around.

For those of you who have been/are going to any of the soccer matches, this table might be helpful, it gives the numbers of the halaal (SANHA approved) food stands in each stadium:

NO CITY STADIUM KIOSK NO
1 Bloemfontein Free State PC 8
2 Cape Town Green Point PC 12
3 Durban Moses Mabhida PC 12
4 Johannesburg Ellis Park PC 15
5 Johannesburg Soccer City PC 15
6 Johannesburg Soccer City PC 45
7 Nelspruit Mbombela L 61
8 Polokwane Peter Mokaba PC 10
9 Port Elizabeth Nelson Mandela Bay PC 13
10 Pretoria Loftus Versfeld PC 2
11 Rustenburg Royal Bafokeng PC 6

I've only tried looking for the Soccer City halaal stalls but haven't had any luck finding them as the PC numbers don't seem to be displayed at Soccer City. If anyone else has found them at Soccer City, please let me know! I still have one more match there and would love to be able to buy something to eat! :)

Salaams Aneesa, welcome to this forum. Congrats on your pregnancy, Alhamdullillah. Inshallah you will have a happy and healthy pregnancy.

A-isha, as I understand it, if there is a difference of opinion on a point, u should follow the opinion of a trusted aalim or moulana in your area. That's why I suggest that u get dh to speak to a moulana or aalim at your local masjid and then follow that opinion. Hope tht helps.

Shukraan firefly

Aisha I am happy for another boy...But I did have my secret hopes. But my husband is soo happy that I cant help but tell everyone we were both hoping for a boy :P

If you not feeling 100% about fasting then dont put yourself through that especially while you are pregnant. You have plenty of time to pay all the owing days back once you are back to your old self and baby is born and health insh allah.

I asked around about the husband being there for the birth and most people said that it is not against Islam...however there has been right ups about how the husband wiewing the actually baby coming out of you can affect your (sexual) relationship after this. Im not too sure how true this is and I guess at the end of the day it is a decision to be made between the husband and wife.

Lol, one of the things I'm not too fond of on the ask imam website is that often they don't completely answer the question. Sorry a-isha, I don't know about whether he's allowed to see the birth.

As far as paying back your fasts, I don't think there's any time limit in which to pay back your qadhaa fasts. Obviously the sooner the better but you don't have to do them now before the next Ramadaan. I still have some from way back when that I need to pay back!

Salaams,

Hope you're all well.

Apologies for the confusion Firefly..
But Insha'allah, its not too far away :)

I know i wont be able to fast during Ramadaan as i'm due during the first few days...
But in these months leading up to Ramadaan, is it obligatory that I fast the few days I still have to pay in? This pregnancy has left me very fatigued and ill-feeling. But if one has to, we can't argue. (?)

Also, it is apparently permitted that the husband be with the wife to support her during childbirth. But i've heard that he is not allowed to see the physical birth. Any truth to this? The web link doesnt answer this completely.

Take care!

Salaams ladies :)

a-isha, I think you have me confused with someone else (maybe honeylove?)? I don't have a little one and am not yet pregnant :) Just started ttc

Congrat's on the blue honeylove :) Alhamdullillah

Obviously, since I haven't been preggies, I don't have first hand experience. I do know that it's fine to fast if you feel well enough. My SIL fasted right though Ramadaan last year in her 8/9 month of pregnancy. According to askimam.com, if you're unable to fast you are excused but you will have to make qadhaa of the missed fasts. (www.islam.tc/cgi-bin/askimam/ask.pl?q=9972&act=view) If you're worried about whether it would be okay medically, perhaps check with your doctor.

When it comes to husbands being present during the birth, the ask-imam website states that there are no shariah prohibitions on a husband offering support to his wife during birth (www.islam.tc/cgi-bin/askimam/ask.pl?q=4435&act=view)

The ask-imam website is run by the Dural Ifta, Madrassah In'aamiyyah in Camperdown. I think the advice they give is generally based on the hanafi school of thought unless specified otherwise. The point I'm trying to make is

a) It's not a random website, I wouldn't generally trust Islamic Q&A websites but I know and have verified with an aalim that Camperdown is genuine and their opinions can be trusted. They've got an extensive database and are generally a good place to look for Islamic info online.

b) This might differ in the shafi school of thought and if you're from CT, like many of the girls here, you might want to verify that this is the same according to the shafi madhab. (I suggest getting dh to ask the moulana at your local masjid).

Hi Mina Moo, sounds like your lo is doing well if she might be ready to come early!

Nice to see you again Nayeela/K's mom :)
