question-circle Acupuncture for lower back ache?

yip my physio refused to do any acupuncture while I was pregnant. Only massage was allowed.

Meags your ligament pain probably can't be treated other than a hot pack mayby but place it on your back, not tummy.

I read recently that even electric blankets are not ideal for pregnant ladies.

My mum is a physio who is also qualified to do acupuncture and dry needling. Acupuncture and needling need to be done very carefully during pregnancy as there are many points which can cause labour to start etc. So, if you do go, go to someone who specialises in pregnancy. I'd rather stay away from acupuncture in early pregnancy.

I have bad back pain and use a TENS machine when it gets really bad. My mum was hesitant to do acupuncture and I only use the TENS machine when the pain is so bad I can't actually walk. Maybe speak to your midwife?

That's interesting Julz - not heard it was contraindicated! obviously you need someone that knows what they are doing but I have had moms have treatments for various things before I started working with them.
