Thank you, I don't think it could be the restless leg syndrome, he sometimes gets his nights where he wakes up less and does not really move around a lot at night only when he wakes.

But thank you for the vote of confidence, I try and keep positive with the fact that it will pass. :cheer:

Manda - i dont wont to break your heart, but my eldest was the same. and she only started sleeping through in December (3 and a half). i took away the night bottle replaced it with water and she still woke up. i took that away and gave her nothing and she still woke up. she had all her teeth by 18 months so it wasn't that. we eventually figured out that she has restless leg syndrome. you can give them meds, but i didn't want to, so as Claire said i made peace with the fact that i will never get any rest and i felt better after a while.

i made turns with my partner tonight i get up and tomorrow you get up. that's the only way i got sleep.

good luck and remember it will eventually get better.

Hate to tell you this, but EVERYTHING affects their sleep, teething, hungry, over tired, strange noises, reaching milestones, wet nappies, wanting to have a bit of a chat and a cuddle etc, so if he is teething give him prodol before bedtime and then when he wakes again.

You can try cutting out the night bottle, or even just reducing it until he only has a sip or 2, but that still means you will be getting up at night for a month or so, but will def help in the long run.

I found once I had resolved myself to the fact that I would be up at night and stopped trying to figure out why I was awake, it went much better - I was not so tense and frustrated, so I was able to think it thru and work out what was wrong and settle the boys much easier.
It also sometimes helps to get your partner to get up, cos for some reason fathers have a knack of getting them back to sleep without a fuss

Thank you for the replies. I will start taking away the night time bottle. He is a very busy child usually, but yesterday he stayed at home with me and it was very calm just with me and him alone. Maybe he is just one of those babies that does not depend that much on sleep. But anyway. Thank you very much for your advise. O, yes, when can one start giving normal tap water and not boiled water that has cooled down?

Thanks Elaine, now I know what they are called. Feel stupid for calling them the wisdoms. I should know wisdoms only come out when you are like 18.

Sorry Joli

Joli, now you have me confused as well. Im talking about the ones right at the back, the big ones on the top and the bottom. Im not sure then what they are called but they are the painfull ones.

Manda, I took his night time bottle away at around 10 months or I must actually say, he never took one anymore. I dont think there is really a right and wrong time.

If he does wake up at night, we give him a few sips of water.

I dont know how true this is, but I heard that if a baby has been very busy or has been over stimulated during the day, it does affect the sleep at night.

Wisdom teeth are the permanent teeth that come out at 18-23 years. :)

The baby teeth are molars (kiestande) they get the smaller molar first called a premolar, and then the big molars right at the back.

Manda: I think that is a very good way to get rid of the night bottle. The other option is just to only give water at night. Within a few days he should realize that there is nothing to wake up for. That is if he is only waking up to feed. If it is pain, you could try putting something on the gums before bed.
