Thank you for the replies.
I am just so angry and frustrated that my LG is being bitten all the time and nothing seems to be done about it.
Out of my anger and frustration I was trying to come up with ideas and the pepper was the only thing I could think of.....
Now i feel like a terrible mother for saying that - sorry ladies!!!

The teacher has said that they send them to the naughty corner but at that age - do they really understand??

My LG is 21 months now and sometimes it seems like she is just too young to understand things.

Man this parenting thing is sooooo dam hard!!!!

p.s Sorry again - I am also just going through a very stressful time in my life right now so i do apologise for coming up with ridiculous things like the pepper...... reading your responses and suddenly realised that I am not a very nice person for suggesting that!!

I do not think you should feel bad about it, i think we can all appreciate your position and as a mother of a biter i feel someone should apologise you and your baby for not taking any action. I hope you get some relief

i completely agree with Nayeela i do not think that putting pepper in a childs mouth would solve anything except subject the little person who is not fully aware of how much they are hurting the other, to unnecessary stress. I do believe that there should be repercussions.

My son is also a bitter. He bit three other children within the space of 4 months and i was completely stressed out about it. I do not want my child to be a bully and i feel for the other little tots. For a moment i thought that it was something i had done...that maybe little guy was frustrated because i was working alot more now and seeing him less. Well i learnt that it was not an unusual way for little ones to express themselves.

At the creche were he goes the teachers are vigilant about watching the bitters and stop them just in the nick of time. If they do bite they get time in the naughty corner and the bitten baby gets love and attention. It has been brought to my knowledge and i have asked that they encourage Marley to say sorry to the hurt child.

In the sand pit it gets really nasty - its not always black and white, all the kids tend to hurt one another one way or another...they have to share toys and it causes discontent sometimes.

i think they are confused and not really sure how to express themselves. you will notice that children who are more advance when it comes to speech do not really have this problem as it is easier to express themselves.

its there ourlet they dont know how else to tell their friends "listen here a-hole i have had enough of your face"

Rhondine! lol, "my child only has 2 teeth how does he defend himself?"
I see what you mean about the "has no idea of pain or inflicting pain"
Neither does my lb, hence the surprised face when his little 'friend' starts pummeling him. I'm curious as to how to handle this? How do we expect the teachers to handle it, and how do we as mom react when this happens? I have never been one to 'talk' to other peoples kids, especially if they are very small.
WHY??? are they so violent at this age?
Yup thats the word I'm using..violent

Hey Monica, I know just how you feel. My lb has not been bitten, I'm sure that will send me over the edge, but whenever I take him to a friend with a child (most recent one is 2,5 years) He gets pushed down and hit, repeatedly, and one time the lb had J down on the ground and was just hitting him????? If he pushed/hit him 50 times that day, I would be rounding it down. Seriously? I also dont know how to handle it.. I usually dont do or say anything unless J cries.. DH want me to do/say something when it happens but honestly, I'm dealing with a 2 year old.. How much does he really understand, he'll probably just think I'm being mean? So I kinda understand the teachers predicament.
Anyway, I hate watching my child playing in 'fear' he's not super intimidated but he just has this sad/surprised little look on his face everytime a toy gets taken away/ he gets pushed down.
Breaks my heart..
It seems he's destined to be a little ladies man.. as he plays well with the girls!
And he's great with animals.. I worry for when he starts a little play group.. that he's not 'street smart', but then again, I would have a heart attack if HE hit! I think it's ugly.
I dont want my little gentle giant to become a punching bag...
As for the pepper thing.lol
I'm not into punishment or praise..

Shit, Poor little Shaunie.

I totally understand how you are feeling girl. Lorelai and Kyle (Little boy at Daymom) hits and bites each other the entire day. The daymother has tried everything and nothing stops them from abusing each other. My child permanently looks like she has been to war and back.

Thinking of you girly.

Shame Rhodine, I can totally sympathise, my LB also was in a class with a Girl the same age as him that kept biting him for no reason, problem is that he started seeing this as a method of defense and started doing it himself, it has taken a long time but we finally got the habit out of him. You will need to be mindful of this and put a stop to it as soon as you can. We went to the school and demanded they move the other kid out the class for our childs safetey and so they did.
