RSV Virus

The doc is giving her antibiotics intravenously? I think its for the secondary infection though.

I have a nebuliser at home, and she is on prelone syryp at the moment and having physio.

My problem is the keeping her at home thing. I am a single mom of 2, and i am a temp trying to secure a perm position, if i dont work i dont get paid at all. Leah is at a daymother and i have informed her and she said she will be extra careful, but i am seriously considering asking my gran to come from ladysmith and i will pay her to look after leah for the next 6 months. Thing is leah loves her daymother so much and she loves the kids to bits. It will break her heart to take her out.

Sorry for what you have been through.

Dylan had it when he was 5 months old. It can be serious as young babies struggle to breathe so you did the right thing in taking her in to the emergency room.

Dylan had physio for a couple of weeks and they nebulised him and then he was on sinulair sprinkles (asthma meds) for two weeks and steriods for three days.

it took about 3/4 weeks for him to get better.

Most importantly if your child has RSV please keep them at home. Check with the paed how long they must be home for as it spread very very easily.

Antibiotics will do nothing for your child as it is a virus.

My daughter is 15 months and has diagnosed with RSV virus after a 5 week run of chest infections, antibitics and phsyio. She would be on antibiotics and physio for a week, fine for 4 days and then back to square 1. Saturday i couldnt handle it anymore, She spiked a fever of 39.8 and her breathing was very shallow and rapid, i rushed to the hospital and she was admitted. The paed ran bloods and spetum tests and w got the results this morning, she has RSV virus.

From what i understand its something that cant really be treated, only the symptoms, so a common cold in one child will be bronchitis or pneumonia in my child very quickly.

Are there other moms with babies and todlers with RSV? How do you manage it at home and at creche? Are there immune sups you give your lo's? I want my little girl to stay healthy, i dont want her sick again. It breaks my heart that she is sick and needs antibiotics and phsyio every 7-10 days.
