Hello ladies, so the mastitis was quite serious, so i've had to take my LG completely because of the medication prescribed. She really hasn't been to bad an di put some BIG plasters on them and put some red colouring on them and pretended they were "bleeding", just to out her off even more. Well it's worked this far and she drinks her bottle with some milk or rooibos tea at night. I also still use some of the Purity bed-time drink(babies horlicks), which she also loves and helps to lull her to sleep. She's beeen sleeping through the night which is a god send, but i'm starting to see the effects of withdrawl in her behaviour. She has become soooo moody at times and threw this MASIVE temper tantrum this morning........but it's so sad and hard for me to deal with, because i know that she feels her sense of "comfort" being her "nannie" has been taken away, so ja it's been a little daunting. I understand it's an age thing and that at this age, they push every possible boundary they can, but sjoe...you need nerves of steel.

Memo, my LG LOVEd her dummy but when she started talking(± 16 Months)her nanny started "weaning" her off it slowly but surely, until eventually she didn't want it anymore. Her nanny is a retired teacher and advised that the dummy would interfere with her developing speech, which is now excellent and I'll have you know she now talks the hind legs off a donkey , but on the other hand it would've been a great help for me to give her this during the night when she was sucking on her nannie and keeping me awake.....so ja it was 6 of 1 and half a dozen of the other.

My advice to you ladies, is to try and get them to wean themselves off as oppose to taking them off because they become so tempremental an dhard to deal with.

Good luck ;)

Oh Mikki, I really feel for you! I also don't want to wake my 4 year old son every night with my LG's crying, but I seriously cannot go on like this. I am considering gentle sleep training and a bottle feed before bed, and hopefully it will all be over in a few days

Good luck with the mastitis

Hey Mikkie, I am glad to see someone else in the same boat as me. I was trying the method of rocking him to sleep and patting him but he is simply refusing and is just grabbing my breasts and just wants that for comfort, I dont know what to do anymore cos even the aloe he wipes it himself with wetwipes and knows it. I think my only solution now is to get some pills from Doc to dry up my milk because I really am now at my wits end

OMG...i thought i was alone on this god-forsaken island. My LG is 27 months and the night feeds, are absolutley killing me. In fact i woke up with mastitis this morning......i feel like she is still 9 months old, waking for night feeds. I am at the end of my tether and feel completely drained. Problem is that i live with my parents and the technique of leaving her to cry and get over not having nite-nannie as she calls it......is out....BUT my interfering mother, can't handle the crying and gets agitated and frustrating with the whole process, so to keep the peace i just give in and spend my nights feeding.

Someone, anyone....HELP please!!
