Ontwikkeling van tand probleme begin eers hier by 4 of 5 jaar, wanneer permanente tande begin ontwikkel..

Sy laat my nie uit haar sig gaan nie, sy wil HEELTYD op my arm sit, huil soggens as sy creche toe gaan. So haar security objects is weggevat.

Maybe I'm making a too bigger deal of this? My sister used to suck her two fingers up and till a school going age..she had anxiety attacks, wasn't social at all etc etc. I don't want Migs to end up like that.

No fair, I was also brought up in the tough love era and don't need a therapist! :)

My mom sucked her thumb till she was 12 and has zero crooked teeth, but then again, they had real meat/veggies/fruits back then. Even children who never suck a dummy have crooked teeth - I'm not convinced that dummies are always at fault.

Then again, back to the original comment about the creche. B's daycare also doesn't allow dummies from 2 years (the potties) and up, she has this bear that she sometimes takes with but they take it from her as soon as she gets there and I understand why, they have to keep tabs on it, they have to make sure it doesn't break or gets lost and the other children wants it too - so I'm with them a little.

As for sucking her thumb, B goes through stages. I don't call anything a problem unless it persists constantly for 4 weeks or more. Sometimes ignoring a 'problem' makes it go away on it's own

SM, you are so right. I remember when Migs just started at the creche and she still drank out of her bottle, one of the other kids grabbed her bottle and started drinking on it..she grabbed it back and bit him!! So she doesn't like sharing!

That is exactly why all us adults needs therapy..the tough love approach we received as children. So it's ok then to send my therapist bill to my mom right? ;)

Sumaya have Zia totally stopped sucking his thumb? The bra is alot better than the thumbsucking I guess :)

MB, it's quite shocking how many unhygenic thigs happen without anyone noticing. Sharing bottles/ cutlery/ food etc. They are kids and you and even the teachers can't watch them all the time. Kids share! Especially when no one is watching :P

Bitter stuff = shocking! Yes, that's how they did it many many years ago. We've moved on and we've evolved our parenting skills. There are many other better/healthier/calmer ways to get your child to do/not do things.

Shit! Maybe because we recieved tough love when we grew up is why we need therapy as adults

MariB, I def think they should allow her the taglet and dummy, all she needs is comfort and with her going through so much, she is still a baby you know.

When Zia stopped sucking his thumb he got attached to holding and stroking my bra. It get embarrasing in some cases, but hey, my boy needs his comfort :-)
