file Only 1 child?

Just wanted to add to Kristin's response, I felt like having a 1 child family for a long time especially when K would throw a tantrum then I would feel like am so glad that I dont have to deal wih tantrums ever again :laugh. This month however, the broodiness has really kicked in and my heart wants another baby. DH was also set on having 1 only but 2 days ago he broached the subject again and said he actually would not mind having another one if that is what I want. He will love the baby regardless and he is a super great dad so I have no worries there :) He actually has started talking a lot more about baby number 2 which is a good sign.

We will only start trying next year though as we want to take care of a few issues this year and start afresh next year. My main reasoning to have another 1 is simply because my heart wants to and not because K needs a sibling. Am glad that my decision will ultimately give her a brother or sister and hoping they do get along :)

You know your heart wants to when after 3 teething nights witha two year old, you still want another one

I've always wanted to have 1 child while my sister always wanted 4 kids.

When I had Bo in 2009 I was certain that this is really what I wanted.I had a very difficult pregnancy which started as an ectopic & had an ectopic surgery when I was 6 weeks preggies which was successful but I never really enjoyed the pregnancy as I always had worries.Giving birth is the most painful thing I ever went through & I dont think I will ever put myself through that again.Of course giving birth to Bo was the best thing that ever happened to me & the most incredible day of my life & the +bonus was that she was born a normal healthy girl & my fears of her being born having any form of disability was gone.

I've never loved someone like I love Bo & I dont think I could ever love someone else like I love her & I feel it will be unfair to bring another child in the world feeling like this. She is truelly my life,my reason to wake up every morning & do what I do best & all I want is the best for her & I feel it will be selfish of me to the best that I want for her with someone else & besides I always wanted 1 so why should I put her through that?

My hubby wants another child & he is wishing for a boy but he has 2 from previous relationships so her request is not putting any pressure on me & I dont feel guilty or whatsoever. He has 3 & I have 1 & thats it.Financially,I can afford to have another child but I only want one & the only thing I'm doing now is to give Bo financial security & I plan to continue doing so, so that when I die I get the eternal rest knowing that she would be taken care of the rest of her life.

Basically I feel that one should have 2 or more kids because they want to not because they feel that their 1st born needs a sibling. My sister has 3 kids so far & Bo is so close to them I feel that she has siblings in a way & I know that the mith that says 1 child gets lonely is not true cause kids these days have cousins, play clubs, creche & us to keep them busy.

I am totally on the fence with this one. My mind changes from one day to the next.

I commented because I wanted to say that all of you have very compelling arguments here.

I'm having a 1 child only moment here after reading all of your response.

I always wanted 2kids and DH wanted 5  :pinch: we are fine with one (at the moment), I would not mind having just this one because of the bond we share, what we can afford for her, etc. she is not spoiled at all and I hope she never would be.
she doenst get bored as she has 6cousins and we have friends with kids, so she enjoys the company of other kids and she's just as happy being with Mommy and Daddy.

Financially we could cope with having other kids, I dont think I could cope looking after another child as my LG is so demanding and busy.

Might change my mind in 2-3years, we'll see . . .

People should just mind their own business!

That's exactly why I can't imagine having another child Laurakim. I have that bond with Joshua

Tough one and I think only you will know the answer.

I have a friend who has one kid and I am often jealous of the bond they have. I dont have that kind of relationship with any of my kids purely because I do not have much time for each one on their own.

Watching my 3 together is very special and we cant imagine it any other way BUT I still may have been just as happy with just one!

Thanks for all the replies.

I am happy with having just 1 child. But it is like people asume that we will have more. When we found out we were having a girl we bought everythink pink, and now we sometimes get comments like òh you better hope the next baby is a girl aswell otherwise you will need to buy new things`

I am abit worried about spoiling her too much, but I think it all depends on how children are raised, so hopefully I will do a good job!
