file I really can't handle the tantrums anymore -HELP

The thing that I learned from the most re toddler tantrums is Margot Sunderland's book What every parent needs to know

She goes into detail on possible reasons, including blood sugar levels, some brain chemistry and obviously the killer in the evenings - overtiredness. It was a real eye opener to realise the two different kinds of tantrums require two different approaches. The Practica Parenting Blog wrote something about it as well a while ago - the Amygdala Hijacking tantrum and the Little Nero tantrum.

practicaprogram.blogspot.com/2010/09/amygdala-hijacking.html

Redirection works because you activate the seeking section of a child's brain, and you need to figure out ways to distract the amygdala hijacking kind of reaction. It's really hard work but since I've started to use this approach (And there's so much more in the book that's just mind blowing) the tantrums and their severity have really reduced.

Good luck!

With Kiddy-Calm it is important to remember that the purer (more organic) you child's diet is, the less benefits will be noticable, HOWEVER magnisium sulphate has numerous "hidden' benefits, things you would never notice like helps with the absorption of calcium, assists brain developemnet, soothes sunburn, breaks up the lactin build-up in athletes, soothes aching legaments, magnisium sulphate paste is a very old remedy for abcesses and boils.
magnisium sulphate is given introveniously when you go into pre-term labour, bathing in it can help ease labour pains etc.

But, sorry to steal your post, it should be about tantrums - Kiddy-calm really helped Liam cos he ate LOADS of junk, but the difference was gradual, not immediate, in fact the first 3 nights we used it he had the worst tantrums I have ever experienced and I was very sceptical, however once it had started de-toxing him, I started seeing the benefits (I am so glad I did not give up the first few evenings).

For Brandon, who is calm and generally quite placid anyway I did not see much difference but cos they bath together he baths in it as well, and I have noticed his concentration levels have improved

Each child is different, so will react differently to whatever you do, rescue remedy worked a charm on Brandon, but not at all on Liam, so you need to try a few things for a few weeks at a time to find what best suits your child. Just whatever you do, whether you "medicate (Kiddy-Calm / rescue remedy) or thru discipline, you need to stick it out for at leaset a week or 2, even if you get horrible results at first

I tried the kiddicalm to see if it would help with Em's frequent waking at night, but she had an allergic reaction to it. She has VERY sensitive skin - also had an allergic reaction to amber teething necklace. So, I only used the kiddicalm for about 7 days, then had to stop. I did not notice a difference in the 7 days though. Also, my sister used it for about 4 months every night with her kids and noticed no difference :(

I have heard alot of people here on the forum though who have said that it works???

Hi Ladies

Ronel i have the same situation as you. My son is 3 and wow the whining and crying over the smalest things can drive me crazy at times. LB and I get home at 16:00 my Dh gets home at 18:15. During this 2 hour period i have to make supper, tidy up, spend some outside playtime with my son (this eases the tantrums) make sure he has eaten and baths before dh gets home so that they can spend quality time together. He also doesnt understand why i appear so flustered and worked up by the time he arrives home to a clean house, supper ready and a clean boy who has now calmed down.
