file Treatment of Sinusitus

Thanks Lonie! I am also hugely against antibiotics. Thankfully, Emily has only ever been on 3 courses of antibiotics. But that already is too much for me since it has all been in the last few months!! Aspelone - I have never thought to question that!! No idea why - first time she used it was for croup and now for the sinusitus. I have never thought of homeopath - silly me!! My DH uncle is actually a homeopath, so will ask him about something for the sinus! Thanks for opening that train of thought.

Replied by Lonie on topic Re: Treatment of Sinusitus
My little girl had a bad sinus infection on Monday, so bad that the gunk starting coming out of her eyes..
Somehow I just cant agree with Doctors wanting to give Antibiotics and Cortisone / steroid meds (Aspelone) and most Doctors will not warn you about the dangers of Cortisone..

We cleared up her sinus infection within 2 days with homeopathic meds (the ones you buy in the shop is good and well for minor problems) but I went to get some meds from our homeopath, which works very well!

I also like to use the bactroban and also think its good to place a little in the nose on a daily basis (if they go to a creche)

We have not been using Antibiotics for 2 years now, and cleared up all her infections (ear, tonsils, sinus, stomach virus ect) with the homeopath..

We also battle with Lior and the only thing that helps with him and clears the nose almost instantly is vibrosil nose drops and then of course the nebulising. Just remember aspelone is quarterzone, our doc advised us not to just stop but to wean him off so for the first week give as directed and then the second week every second day and then third week every third day and so on til you stop - once we did that we havent really had to use it again

Thanks ladies. Going to try Nurofen and some sterimar for a couple of days. If by Friday morning, she is still puffy in the face, then will go and see the paed (again!)

Hi
Our lg had it when she was 5 years old. She was put on a course of antibiotics for 2 weeks - makes sure the one prescribed works for sinusitis.

She was on the avamys, zyzal drops in the morning and an antihistamine after noon and night.
In between I sprayed the sterimar every 2 hourly.

She had an x-ray which confirmed the sinusitus and 2 weeks later another to show that it was getting better. They can also do a nasal swab.

Give neurofen to help with the swelling in the nasal cavity.

I have 2 little girls and we living in Hong Kong.

Hi Flowergirl

Josh had a fever too. And the congestion. This child woke hourly as he just couldn't breathe... We tried karvol, vicks, the humidifier....
The doc said it's a cold. Prescribed antibiotic, rinex, mybulen and tussitot. Josh also complained about the Eina but it was more his mouth???

Well, I gave up on the rinex cos after 3/4 days he was still not improving. Took initiative and altered things a bit:
Antibiotic
Coryx
Nurofen

Nebulise with Pulmicort and Duolin - I strongly believe that a nebuliser helps and also prevents things getting worse

Well after two days, he can breathe. the fever is gone and the child can sleep.

Oh, we also use a nasal spray - can't remember the name two to three times. And I use Avamys spray at night.

Good Luck.
