Morning Ladies.

Waltons has the LH scissor for R5.12(according to their webpage).

His previous teacher of last year Gr 00 brought it to our attention, when he does homework, he uses his LH.

I asked him on Monday whether he still uses both hands to write when busy in class, he said no, but he says when is colouring, he switches....

I am also going to get him the LH scissor.... Think I will get 2, one for school and one for home.

JoyP, my daughter's teacher said that I should buy one at Waltons, so I think it would be a good bet.

My daughter is still switching a lot between the two hands so we're giving it a "watch and wait" approach, but I also want to give her the opportunity to cut with her left hand so I will be buying the scissors as well.

By when did you know for sure that they were lefties?

JoyP, I bought at an educational toy shop in Gift Acres Pretoria. I would guess most educational shops would have it. It was really cheap, think I paid R12 per pair.

My son is 6yrs, starting Grade 1 next year and he is also a leftie...BUT he tends to switch over to his right hand when his left hand gets tired.

Yes circles are a challenge as I see this with him too, as well as his letter S and his number 3... He tends to write them vice versa. The principal at his nursery school also suggested we see a OT not due to him being LH, but cos of 'cross-over'.

His teacher is now monitoring him to see if he does, and how often he switches over....
Where did you find the left-handed scissor as I searched and I couldn't find it in January when I did his stationery buying.

Im hoping OT is needed...

I will take mine to an OT anyway just to make sure we don't develop a problem. He is doing very well at school at the moment but I think we will do an OT assessment early next year. Personally I think he is behind in drawing because of what his sister can do at a younger age, but she might just be more advanced than her age...
