I have the Bambino seat. It used to be Nienke's.

Hi Hasie

Hi there!

Deja, I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one. I truly believe staying rear facing till after 2 years, is not negotiable. The child's head is to heavy for the neck muscles and internal decapitation is ugly and real.

That said, most parents don't even use a car seat...

I always marvel at how parents will run after their kids at a jungle gym and almost wrap them in cotton to protect them from a bump on the head or a fall off a 20cm step, but then they turn them forward facing or take them out of their seats. Doesn't make sense.

Huggles, I have a friend who makes a very good safety keep arms in clip, much better than the 4-a-kid one. Send me a pm then I'll send you details. My kids haven't been able to open them yet, and they've had them on for over a year.

I recently turned my 2,5 year old around as she got to tall for my rear facer. She loves facing forward but also misses the lying down effect of the rear facing seat.

Jay I think you're referring to my seat - the Bambino Roadster? Deja didn't mention which seat she has.

I have my son behind the passanger seat, not behind the drivers seat. But I'm not sure how to convert it, need to check the manual. I know it showed diagrams and seemed to explain fairly well. Was going to have a look tonight as to how to turn it forward facing.

I'm just a bit nervous about turning it in case he still pulls his arms out. And also I saw a video on fb a while ago about an 18 month old that was in a forward facing car seat and was in an accident and how it's taken almost a year to deal with his damaged neck (they actually managed to stabilise etc, but months of physiotherapy in order to get him walking etc again). Apparently if he'd been rear facing the damage wouldn't have been so great. So that jumps out at me every time I consider turning his seat but I don't know, have been thinking about it for a while.

We used to have major fights getting him strapped in, but thankfully he sits nicely now and co-operates. Just doesn't STAY in the straps.

We have a convertible seat (Bambino Roadster) so I can turn that one forward and later it converts into a booster as well. Can be used from birth until like 12 years old apparently, although I think in reality more likely until 6 years old.
Was considering turning it forward facing and seeing if that solves the issue.

Hi Huggles

I personally think he is too old/big for a rear-facing seat. I know they say keep the child rear-facing as long as possible, but I feel its better for them to be in a front-facing car seat and stay strapped in, than climbing out of the rear-facing one.

Sion is going onto his third car seat, because he doesn't sit still in even the forward-facing one. I am now going to buy him a proper toddler seat.

It's always a tantrum when he goes with, because I have to pin him down and strap him in. But he has to learn that's the rule. :-)
