You can start giving you lo food from you plate now. I just mash it all so rice and potato and some fish etc. I also add a bit of gravy which helps them to swallow.

Dylan's nose was bright orange for a couple of months from all the veg.

Im not an expert on that as my LG started eating late, but I use to cook some rice. Make some potato in the pot for example with chicken stock so it has that flavour and mash them together and some veg on the side. She use to love that.

oh i think its very normal that we make sure our kids are keeping up with the norm, but also as 290708 says, is cause she started eating so late she is progressing well as a late eater... and let me tell you i am still frantic about apples ok, they get cut into thin slices, what happens at creche is their doing, but in my eyes, its done my way and i get paraniod...
also no lying down when you eat, NO NO!!!
ok, way off topic mark...

can any of you give me a nive idea of what to cook for the little man, almost 9 months, poor baby been getting butternu, sweet potato and chicken for nights, and inbetween 2 minute noodles or spagetti bolognaise which he hated.
tonight in butternut and sweet potato wheels again...

Joli I also wished my parents had encouraged us more and supported us where we had potential.

while all kids develop at different rates I do go and check to make sure Dylan is keeping up with the norm.

I am all for Daycare but only because it suits my needs. There are pro's and cons for all situations and some days I wish I had followed the nanny route especially when Dylan is sick and I have to take leave to look after the little man.

Now just to set your mind at ease. I do think the kids love daycare. I love the social aspect for him and it gets him out of the house.

Dylan isn't more advanced than other kids who are looked after by a nanny and it really depends on the daycare/creche and the nanny in question.

I wish you all the best and don't worry about what other say. xxx

Hi, my LG is also 20 months old and she's also still at home with a nanny. I may have to lose the nanny now (long story) and may find myself in the same boat.
My LG speaks most words, constructs good sentences, even sings (and you can hear the words clearly) so I don't think this has anything to do with going to school or not. I also feel that they are only babies once; let them have that personal love and attention for as long as possible.
I wonder also if some of the negative comments you've heard are from moms who themselves may be suffering from some guilt at not being able to keep their kids at home? Otherwise, why the nastiness? That's just plain unnecessary.
I have come to an agreement with two moms in the area and our children (roughly same age) play together - the nannies take turns going to each other's homes. That way I know my LG is also getting the social skills she needs.

Great stuff. I just feel its best that way. She is for example say slow in the "eating department" in the sense that she does not eat half the things as confident as other kids her age does, but how can I expect any different.

We only started her on porridge at 6 months and that continued untill about 8 months, then only purity was introduced and by a year only, the cooked veggies and as from 18 months really she started eating what we eat etc. We still cut up her apples and peel it and sometimes grate it for her (I KNOW!!!!) - so yes, people dont always understand such things - they think its totally weird, but I compare her to herself and for that reason she is progressing and eating as she shoudl, based on the way we raised her.
