I can see that the nap in the carseat can be lifesaver! But she has slept in her carseat I think twice. That one doesn't work for us...sadly.

I am glad I am not the only one who struggles with this!

Our household adjusts to LG's sleep routine. I feel she is small and her needs (mostly) comes first. We are lucky that she will sleep in the car. If we have to meet friends she would sleep in the car for an hour or so. Friends/family tend to undestand if I say we can only come at 1:00. They are adults and should understand that each houshold has different requirements?

I agree with 2km, I will not wake my child and risk the drama of having an overtired child at the end of the day.

We live in Krugersdorp

Having a child is much harder than I thought it would be!!

Gloeiwumpie! I'm with you on this one, the only thing that works for us is that anywhere we want to go (since we live in Malmesbury) is about 1 hour away, so we usually leave at the start of B's nap then she sleeps in the car for an hour and is fine for up to 6 hours. Then we leave so we can be home no later than 4pm so she can be awake for 3 hours before going down for the night. Sometimes this backfires on us but she can still stay awake for 6 hours when we are out or visiting.

I asked my sisters the same question the other day. It's an hour to and from my sister, so do we leave at 3pm so she can sleep till 4pm in the car and then can go down for the night at 7pm or do we stay till 6:30, bath her there then leave and hope she stays asleep.

Well we did the last one, gave her a bath there. She slept for 45min in the car and was up for 3 hours when we got home - SO I'm not doing that again!!!

Gloeiwurmpie - I think if the people really want to do something with you or invite you, they should understand that you can only join at 13:00.

I feel it is important for the kids to take their naps, and to skip it or post pone it, will just make things harder for LO and parents.

What I sometimes do, is when we have an appointment that we have to be at, at a certain time, I pick LB up and just put him in his car seat - I must say he is quite a deep sleeper and does not wake easily - so I am not saying that this would work for you!

I try to arrange things to fit in with his sleeps, but this isn't always possible so yes I do wake him at times when I have to. Not easy as my son sleeps during lunch time now.

Well, that is what we try to do as well, but sometimes it really is difficult to arange things around the daysleep. People think you are crazy if you tell them, "I can be only there that time, because my toddler is sleeping". People invite you for lunch, and you say sorry, we can only come from 1:00....
They think you are mad.

I don't wake my LB if he is sleeping. I thinks it's unfair on him and totally puts him out of whack for the rest of the day and then i suffer with an overtired baby that evening.
