file My toddler just frustrates me

Aribeth we are in the same boat. My son Ryan is 3 next month and my younger son is almost 7 months. I am not a single Mom. That must be very hard for you. You must be a very strong person.

Seth sounds like Ryan. Only eats certain things and try as I may he will not try anything new. Also given up worrying there.

Also won't lie with Ryan. He is big enough to go to sleep on his own. But like you said you have to attend to your baby and so do I.

I will try the ignoring thing and see what happens. It is just so hard to stay patient and not loose it with these little ones.

Hayley i'm a single mom. A ginger irish son of 3 and a 7 month old daughter. Seth can be a monster. He eats muffins noodles and yoghurt. When he feels like it he eats proper food. I'm not worried because he eats proper cooked meals with the day mother. Seth also likes to get out bed. Trick i learnt, don't even acknowledge him. Don't look at him. Take his arm and back to bed. Eventually they get the idea. I refuse to lay with him cause i saw the probs it caused with my sister. I also need to take care of my baby so i don't have time to lay with him. Time out is great. 1 min for each year. Stick to it. If he cries again, time out again and again until the behavior changes. I'm still busy with it. Its working. Some days we still open pandora's box though and he just won't listen. A firm flippin good hiding. Never send a child to their rooms for being naughty. The room is a safe place.

I know , but when i say something , daddy will spoil her and then she basically knows she has won...lol

She really is not a difficult child but requires someone to be constantly behind her and sometimes i just don't have the energy

Hayley its called Selective hearing!!!!!! they hear what they want. i take away my daughters toys when she does not listen. every time she doesn't listen i take 4 toys (1 for each year of age) they when she is good she can get 1 back. it works most of the time, but sometimes it doesn't

Katz

i dont think you should just leave them, but they also need to learn that if they do certain things they will get hurt and need to learn to be careful. they do not understand the concept of fear!!!

Hi everyone

I know that people say that twos are terrible and lo's go through stages. BUt i seem to constantly frustrates with LO. She does get a smack on the bum, which is now Daddy's ow,
Do you just let lo's do what they want and then get hurt doing it , cos i personally think they will just try to do it again and again

I do believe in hidings but believe me my son aint scared. Even when his father gives him a hiding on his bum he will 2 minutes later do the same thing he got a hiding for in the first place.

Very frustrating. He just does not listen- it is like his hearing dissapears when I ask him to stop something or do something.
