file Prolonged bleeding and pain...

15 years 8 months ago #154108 by Rhodine
Hi RM -
The pain is truelly really bad - and I feel that when I take a painkiller - the pain actually gets worse... does not make sense, the pain is exactly like menstrual cramps, just a million times worse, the tipe where I am sitting at my desk fiddling my legs the whole time.... I want the bleeding to stop as much as I want the pain to stop....
Do I go to casualty and have them do a thourough check on my reproductive system? My Gynea mentioned on my 6 week check up after my son was born that soemthing can happen like your uterus cut grows on your stomach lining... oh boy.

I just really feel so crap with the pain and the constant bleeding, it is not heavy bleeding but enough to make me feel yucky all the time...

Would you suggest I wait it out for another week and then see my dr and ask him to put me on Yasmin to try regulate it, or do you think going to the hospital for immidiate help would be best. I have been in and out of hospital and never get the help that I require, and feel like stomping my feet untill they listen and assist me ;-(

Bless you allxoxox have a good one

Hi Rhodine, I am sorry you are going through such a trauma.

I have not had anything close to what you are experiencing, so cannot really offer you any advise.

I was on Depo for a long time and did not experience any side effects, however after my daughter was born in 2009, I went back on to Depo, and for the first time I bled like I was dying.

I did not have any pain, but it was like a heavy period every day. I eventually went off Depo and probably would not go on it again.

I think Depo is one of those BC's that work very well for some, and pretty crap for others.

My understanding is that they cannot give you anything to get the Depo out of your system, once it is there, it just has to stay it's course.

I went to my OBGYN as I wanted my cycle back and to stabilise, so I went on to Yasmin, which sorted it out within a month, and then it took about 3 to stabilise.

In terms of the pain you are experiencing - does it feel like the pain associated with a heavy period i.e. cramps that sit really low in your abdomen, maybe pain in the bottom area of your back.

If the issue is you want someone to get the Depo out - clearly that is not an option.

If you want something to assist with the pain you are feeling, then that is another issue.

I have posted before - But need to know how to handle the situation.
I had my son in Jan 2010 emergency c sec. I went on the Depo Provera shot 21 Septemember 2010 the 3 month shot, and never went back for it. In December I finally had enough and went to c a doc, as I had been bleeding constantly since the next morning of the shot - combined with what felt like period pains from hell. She referred me to the casualty ward at flora clinic. By the time I was admitted my stomach was so swollen I looked 8 months preg - I was admitted to the Maternity ward and preped for surgery... Uhm... after alot of explaining, the nurses finally understood I was not pregnant. I was seen by a gynea not my own, as mine was not available. Dr did sonar, not pg, could not find anything wrong with reproductive system, and he prescribed tablets to stop the bleeding, then the surgeon came - ct scan, sonars, gastroscopy, colonoscopy - final diagnosis, 3 stomach ulcers and a spastic colon. Was given meds and sent off. The bleeding stopped for the days I took the tabs, but after the 7 days everything went back to normal. My GP said that I should just wait it out - untill the depo shot has worked out my system.... but I cannot handle this any longer!!! Bleeding, the pain is worse than I ever remembered my periods to be. Since Monday I have been phoning my Gynea to get to see him, I have explained the severity to his lady, but to no avail. Now got an appointment next thursday finally - but I do not have it in me to wait untill then - I am so frustrated. Do I go to the casualty ward now and put up a fight to be attended to? I do not want to see another gynea other than my own - that did my csec - because the gynea I saw in Dec when he was not available shrugged my pain and feelings and worries off and said nothing was wrong. The Surgeon that did the sonar did find a small cyst on one of my ovaries - but he mentioned it and did not show any concern and mentioned that it was small and should go away by itself?
If any of you were in my position - what would you do? I feel so embarresed each time I end up at the reception desk of the casualty and you have to stand there infront of people and they ask you what the problem is?
