I honestly think my heart just broke a little reading your post! 13 years ago I had my son, and my dr at the time was Dr Stander (I wa very young and he was simply the first gynae I went to). He is a HORRID man, and because of him and his ridiculous advise and bullying me into having a (faulty) Mirena system put in, I have been battling infertility for years now! The day I went to him and told him to remove the Mirena, his reply was "You'll come crawling back here after another unplanned pregnancy".... EXCUSE ME????????? Needless to say, I then started seeing Dr Terblanche and I absolutely LOVE him to bits! He tried for a year to help me fall pregnant last year, but then ended up referring me to a specialist! We are planning on our 2nd IUI in a few weeks and I was hoping that if it was successful and we reach the 12 week mark that we aould then go back to Terblanche!
Please if you manage to find someone as wonderful as Terblanche, let me know because I would rather cut off my left leg than EVER set foot in Standers rooms again!

I know this thread is relatively old, but I thought it may be worth sharing my experience for others.

Our first gyni was DR. Terblanche.
At our 3rd visit he informed us that it'd be the last time he saw us as his not doing Obstetrics for pregnant women anymore. He said his gyneacology work was too much for him to continue trying to juggle both...that was a sad day for my wife and I

A month later, we went to Dr. Stander with my mother-in-law and it's true what others say about him. His bedside manners are off!
He didn't greet us, we had to greet him. He made really snarky jokes which my wife and mother-in-law didn't appreciate but I gave him the benefit-of-the-doubt because I thought he was trying to cheer my wife up as she was nervous about changing gyni's.

At our follow-up appointment at Dr. Stander, a month later, is extremely difficult to put into words. Never in my life have I seen such a crude doctor!

He shoved me into a corner while tapping me on my chest, telling me I know nothing..that I'm stupid!
He man-handled my wife and physically hurt her while preparing for the scan and during the scan.
I asked him a question regarding the frequency and payment of sonargraphs and his reply was "I'm going to make you pay if you continue bugging me". Just so I'm clear, that's the 1st question I asked him!

While he was doing the scan of my baby's chest, I asked him if his looking from a top-view or front-view. All he did was raised his left hand...as if to tell me to shut up...and said "I'm working".
No explanations, no courtesy, no manners...nothing!!

After that appointment we booked another one, which, needless-to-say I cancelled.
I never want to see him again!
The lady at his reception told me that he has a really sick patient in ICU when I went back and cancelled our follow-up appointment. While I sympathize with this, he has no right to take it out on his other patients.

I advise anyone to stay as far away from Dr. Stander as possible. He doesn't make time to answer questions or listen to concerns. He literally just writes stuff in your file, does a scan...if you're lucky, then subtly chases you out of his office!

Now we have to find yet another gyni...for the 3rd time in 5 months

I've been with Dr Terblanche now for 4 years and let me tell u I wont go to another Gynea I have a lot off women problems. I went to 7 gynies and his the only one the went out of his way for me all the other dr told me that I will never fall pregnant but after everything me and Terblanche went through I'm 19 weeks pregnant. I'm so happy with him and his got the BEST bedside manners.

Like I always say God made gynies then he made Terblanche.

U can't go wrong with Terblanche his the BEST.

Thanks a mil Hayley!! I'm so old fasioned sometimes and get 'stuck' with what I get used too... Yip, I'm one of those people that will always order the same at the restaurant!
