Hi Sterretjie

Thanks so much for the encouraging words and for sharing your story. It really is appreciated. I must say, I take my hat off to you. I've told my husband on numerous occasions that I don't want to get pregnant after 35 (which I think is also putting unnecessary pressure on us) but recently, I've come to the conclusion that if I'm older than 35 and I become pregnant, so be it!

I am so glad that you guys got pregnant naturally and that you have two wonderful daughters! Just goes to show you, hey? Like you said, the recipe worked!

I will definitely be asking my new dr to do all the tests that he can do and also ask the gynae. I want to have kids SO badly and I know that I have to remain positive and simply believe that it will happen. If we need some help or medication to get it done then that's fine also.

After Monday's appointment with our new doctor, I confess, I have been feeling more positive. I told my husband this as well and he just laughed when I said that my 'gemoeds bekaking' is less.

Presently, I am still waiting to hear the results of the blood work done on Monday, then it's next Monday the ovulation test etc. I'm both excited and nervous about it all.

Will keep you guys updated.

Hi Morgan
Not being able to fall pregnant is one of the most difficult, frustrating, heart breaking and lonely experiences in your life. Dealing with cold hearted receptionists are unfortunately “part of the package” – people that haven’t been through this journey does understand at all what it entails.

It hurts so badly to see and hear of people that falls pregnant without even trying.

We struggled for 6 years to fall pregnant – 6 long years of me going to gyne’s and being told “no everything is fine – you must just try harder”. I’m not going to tell you how much I cried every time I got my period or how scared I was that my husband would leave me because I cannot give him a child. One day he said to me that he is scared that I would leave him because he cannot give me a child – I realised then that it affected him just as much as what it affects me.

To cut a long story short – in 2009 I changed gyne’s and my new gyne discovered that I had fibroids. I was sent for a HSG test which came back positive (tubes were not blocked). In September 2009 I went for a Myomectomy. Hubby also went for tests and it was discovered that he had a low sperm count. I was also diagnosed being Insulin Resistant and started drinking Glucophage and eating right. Our gyne suggested that we start with IVF in Jan 2010.

2010 started with both me and hubby travelling a bit for work which caused me to focus a bit less on falling pregnant. April 2010 we fell pregnant normally – suddenly the recipe worked. Our oldest daughter was born in December 2010.

Can you imagine our surprise when we fell pregnant again in January 2013? Unfortunately our dreams were shattered when I miscarried at 5 weeks – I still sometimes find myself thinking of that little one that we lost.

And then…….. in August 2013 we were pregnant again – now I am already 38 years old and hubby 42. Our second daughter was born in April 2014

It has been a long journey and unfortunately life is not always fair – please try and stay positive – try and go for all the necessary tests. Ask your dr re a hysterosalpingogram (HSG) test (if you haven’t had this test yet). It is to see if the fallopian tubes are blocked or open.

All the best and I hope that you will be pregnant soon

Thing is, my cycle is never 28 days long. Is always 26 / 27 days, usually 27 so we track the timing based on that. Hopefully we'll sort it out on Monday to see if our tracking has been right or not.

The Pregnacare tablets are awesome! I haven't taken them for 2 days now and I swear I feel more tired than usual! Also, I have spherocytosis (red blood vessels shaped like a ball instead of like a tyre) so I'm usually tired which is why those tablets are so awesome, when I was taking them, I wasn't so tired. They're packed with so many vitamins that we no longer get in our daily foodstuffs because everything is processed or genetically engineered.

Anyway, a friend of mine said she was put on fertomed (not sure about spelling) to help her release eggs, maybe that's the same as Clomid? Not sure.

Hoping you get preggers quickly and easily!

That's great! Anything sounds better than nothing. I was going to ask previously if you have been trying to track your ovulation at home, but you'll see that from the doc's tests on Monday. I'm thinking that you either don't ovulate regularly (classic PCOS), or that you ovulate at times slightly different than you anticipate. It's common!

I've just started Pregnacare Conception on Monday again, I took it the last time and I think it helped. For me the main thing was the Clomid, but that only helped me ovulate and didn't provide any of the vitamins that Pregnacare has.

We will only start our TTC-process in November again, so I'm using these coming 3 months to "get ready". My annual gynae visit is on 26 Sept, I'm interested to see if she'll put me back on Clomid or if my PCOS has miraculously been healed these past 3 years (was never something that I investigated at check-ups because wasn't planning on getting preggers!). Fingers crossed!

Thank you SO much!!!! You and your cousin, just made my day!

I had been taking Pregnacare Conception to help with conception and I must say, I felt different during the horrible 2 week wait so when AF paid her usual visit last Wednesday, DH and I were gutted.

DH then said that we should maybe go and get a second opinion seeing as my doctor just left me hanging. I think he said that just to try and cheer me up a little and also because he is still seriously peeved about that fact that I was basically told there's something wrong with me and that's why we haven't been able to conceive yet.

Anyway, went to another doc on Monday who immediately jumped into action, ordering blood tests and scheduling another appointment for me for next Monday to see if I am ovulating (telling me to lay off the Pregnacare tabs for this month to see how my natural state is before taking pills to aid) and to check cervical fluid etc (I know, :tmi: ;) )

I have to say that I was thrilled that he (a doctor that I had never been to before) was so willing and helpful, immediately making suggestions and ordering tests. It's as I told DH, at least now it feels like I'm 'doing' something and not just waiting, waiting, waiting.

Thanks so much for the encouragement! Will keep you updated.

Hi Morgan,

DH and I tried to get pregnant for a year before I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2011. I was put on Clomid and 3 cycles later I had a positive pregnancy test in my hand.

You don't say if you've been checked by the gynae previously, I'm assuming you haven't. At this point you shouldn't assume that you have a serious problem, although a human thing to do. Lots of things could keep you from your positive test, not all are necessarily massive problems. Sometimes it takes a combination of medical intervention, correct timing, a reasonable diet, and blessings from the Man above.

Although I'm fully aware that my road to pregnancy was not as complicated or long as for other women, for me PCOS was an overwhelming diagnosis: it was heart breaking and difficult at the best of times. I know how you feel, it's a tough place to be in.

Like my cousin says (who battled for 3 years): the only way to get pregnant the 1st time is to be 16 and have a dirtbag boyfriend :woohoo:

Hang in there!
