TRYING FOR 2015 BABY

Mom-to-Chloe, just wanted to say that I also have PCOS and mine was diagnosed in 2011 with just a scan (like you). No blood work involved. As far as I understood there is no definitive test for PCOS, but the gynae will be able to diagnose based on enlargement in your ovaries. Depending on the length and day of your cycle (CD 12 onwards) it's possible to see if there are follicles or not, and the absence will indicate a possibility of PCOS. Unusually long cycles is also an indication, as is weight, medical history and hereditary factors. It's more than just looking at a scan, don't worry!

Blood work is sometimes ordered to test the hormone levels in your blood, PCOS is commonly associated with abnormal levels of testosterone and insulin. Many gynaes are able to diagnose with the ultrasound alone, a specialist should know what they are looking for I guess.

Anyway, I went onto fertomid after diagnoses in 2011 and was pregnant after 3 cycles. Last year I had 2 cycles of fertomid and femara, and pregnant after 2 cycles. PCOS is completely treatable and it isn't a "worst case" scenario for everybody, I hope you're one of those with quick results!

BD, im going to try again... But im also on the cancellation with my gynae, so I guess I gotta hope and pray that someone cancels their appointment and I can get to go... The other gynae that I had in mind in Kempton can only see me on the 7 July and im sorry, that's ridiculous!

I can also try the Boksburg Medicross... If AF doesn't pitch up..

Seems like everyone had a lovely long weekend. I stayed indoors as I am not a huge fan of the roads on Easter weekend.

@Liza welcome. good luck with the Gynie and we trust that they will be able to tell you what's going on.

Blood tests are very expensive. I had all mine done in January and it cost around R2200. Our medical savings are also almost depleted it is scary.

I also bought the OPK's from clicks, but mine were all negative I will buy again and test again.

Are there any good Gynies in Alberton? I would like to go in about 3 months so would like to book now even if I have to wait 4 months. I have a lot of expenses for the next couple months. Next month I am seeing the rheumatoid specialist so that is another R1500 cash and I don't know what other expenses there will be.

CD26 for me today, AF should arrive from tomorrow onwards. I really just hope she's on time this month, I need to get them tests done. My friend encouraged me the weekend, said that AF wont come because we werent focused on conceiving, time will tell I guess. I have no AF or early preg symptoms. It's our wedding anniversary this week so it would be wonderful if I get a BFP.
