@Liza - That is good news that you are going for the bloodwork this week. The prices sounds reasonable.

@Jay-bee - Good luck for your O this week. I am holding thumbs for a positive OPK! I do like Pineapple's so maybe I will also get some and have one slice a day.

@CarienM - Hope your child gets well soon. It reminds me so much of where we were last year, but I must say since removing my sons tonsils in December, we have had no fever or anything yet.

There is alot of us in our TWW together. It is terrible to wait and wait and wait.

So I am on CD18 today and 3DPO. FF drew my coverline today and also confirmed (with my OPK's, bloodwork and scan) that I Ovulated on CD15.
I am already thanking God everyday for the new life He is going to give us, and I know it will happen this year.

Have a good evening ladies.
xxx

We need to wait for the stock on the "condom". So hopefully we will have it by Monday. Then Hubby can have the test done next week.
I will be going for bloodwork on Friday which will be CD22 for me.

Yeah!!

Got an email from the fertility clinic. There is a condom that we can use to do the "sperm sample" for testing. So we can BD as normal with the condom and then "deposit" the little swimmers into the sterilised cup and have it at the clinic within the hour.

This is great as hubby was terrified of going to the clinic and giving sperm. So cost wise the condom is R300 and the test R450. Which i dont think is that bad?

Thanks for the information, I am going to buy a small one and have a slice a day. I will start a few days after ov and it can only do good.

Just for some reading: :) - saw the pineapple as well

Luteal Phase
Now is the time to load up on nutrients that encourage cell growth. Beta-carotene, which is commonly found in leafy greens as well as yellow and orange foods (e.g., carrots, cantaloupe and sweet potatoes), helps keep your hormones in check and prevents early miscarriage. In fact, the corpus luteum, which helps produce the progesterone necessary to sustain a pregnancy, is loaded with the powerful nutrient.

One food that gets a lot of attention during this phase is pineapple. In addition to beta-carotene, pineapple contains a substance called bromelain, which has been shown to mildly support implantation through its anti-inflammatory properties. “There’s not a lot of research out there for the benefits of eating pineapple during the time of conception, but if you want to hedge your bets, you may benefit,” says Wright. “After all, pineapple is a healthy food with no downside.” Experts discourage taking bromelain as a supplement though because the dose may be too high, and anything that dramatically moves blood during this time could be counter-productive.

• Fuel up on: Warming foods like soups and stews. The luteal phase is all about creating higher temperatures to help hold a pregnancy.

• Steer clear of: Cold or raw foods, especially ice cream and frozen yogurt. The luteal phase is a time when you want to promote growth and expansion; cold constricts.

• On your plate: A hot and spicy bowl of chili made with lean ground beef and a slice of crusty bread. For dessert: pineapple sorbet.

It was me that mentioned pineapple. I started eating it about 2 days ago. I'd heard about it briefly once before but didn't really understand it, then actually read up on it a few days ago. Pineapple contains an enzyme called Bromelain. The core of the pineapple has the highest concentration. Apparently it's quite an anti-inflammatory and it also thins the blood slightly, so when eaten after ovulation it can help implantation. From what I read most sites recommend just one slice a day, preferably morning before food, though I'm not entirely sure if time of day is all that important. Don't eat it before ov as it can make the cm hostile to sperm, but after ov it can be extremely beneficial. Then again they say to stop after a bfp. There is a lot more technical info on how/why it works/helps, but that's the basics.

ETA - tinned pineapple doesn't count. The heating process basically kills off all the bromelain rendering it basically useless. It must be fresh and the most important part is the core, though the flesh can also be eaten (I just eat an entire slice).

@ TheMrs, if you BD tonight I think that you have got all your bases covered. :)

AFM, I think that the cold Cpt weather is making me over-think ttc. If this month does not work for us my Gyna has only prescribed one more cycle of the Fertomid and then he sends me to a Fertility Specialist. I guess then he will do more tests on me which the medical aid does not cover and my biological clock is ticking so loudly.

But we are giving this cycle our all and I really hope for a BFP this month!! I am not sure who it was but someone spoke of pineapple. Why would one eat it and when would you eat it - I am willing to try anything. lol tried the green tea with some honey but still couldn't handle it
