Yes, it is not a great response for the amount of meds you took. I only took Menopur for 8 days (3 vials daily) and was using Lupron to suppress OV and ended up with 3 mature follies. One of those were empty and we ended up with 2 eggies....both fertilized, but only one kept on growing appropriately....and we fell pg on a 4-day transfer with our daughter (she is now 4 years old).

We used the same protocol during our first IVF attempt, but I did not sleep much during that time (was busy writing exams), hence me only ending up with 2 follies and we changed that IVF cycle to an IUI.

The thing is....you should discuss with your FS whether you prefer a "soft" or natural IVF cycle (then they do not stimulate you so much...and you end up with 2 or 3 embies) or whether you want major stimulation...enough to freeze for later FET. We decided from the beginning that we did not have the funds to opt for major stimulation and as the FET success rate at the clinic we used where not that great, we decided for a soft cycle and were happy with the 3 mature follies during our 2nd attempt.

However, if I were to do IVF now....(as I am older), we would need a more aggressive stimulation protocol as we know that egg quality is not that great anymore.

So - please ask your FS all these questions and make sure that you end up with someone that is really willing to discuss ALL possible protocols with you so that you can make a decision based on your needs and on your budget.

BUT: I do agree with you. Do end up with only 4 follicles after so much meds - was not a great cycle. Remember to mention the meds protocol that you followed to your new FS so that adjustments can be made. And....I found that once I slept more during stimulation....I responded better. Even on just mere Femara. I would only have 1 follie on 5 mg....but would end up with 2 follies on 5 mg if I made sure that I get at least 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep during stimulation time.

I was on the Antagonist Protocol. I took Femara for 5 days, 3 Menopur vials daily for 11 days and Citrocide once daily for 6 days.

I also cannot understand why the FS never told us that I am not reacting well to the meds, every time I went for a scan I had fewer and fewer follicles?

First scan I had 10, second scan 7 and on egg retrieval I only had 4 2 of which were empty apparently. This I feel should have been an indicator that the meds were clearly not working, however when I asked about it I was assured that everything is fine?

Hi, so I did another OPK and still nothing. I know I might be early but I now just feel like giving up. It's the OPK's, it's my CM and when I felt my cervix it also felt more closed in comparison to Friday where it felt soft and open. I got pregnant with Kian so easily and now when I need a baby more than ever its just so hard. Sorry for my rant it might be the hormones or I'm just really over it.

I'm currently using the Dischem brand, but I prefer the clicks. When we were ttc Kian I used them and I got a positive from them the cycle before we conceived.

@Salemein & NicolaF: I too used OPK's this last cycle and I got the feint lines but never a solid line. Was using the clicks brand and got the lines around CD12/13 then I had the EWCM on Day 14. But I haven't hand much luck with OPK's. Have also never used an expensive brand though

AFM...CD10 and i got a positive OPK this morning. Quite early but will test again tomorrow morning and see. I just use the ones from checkers but I think I must start using the clearblue digital ones, they are expensive but possibly more accurate. I have had a LOT of cm this month. Anyway praying hard this is our month.

@megs, sorry for AF, hopefully this month

AFM, tmi... my cervical mucus seems like its drying up. I'm CD10. I really hope I am only imagining it as this was one of my previous signs that something was not quite right. I finished with the clomid yesterday and also started with OPK, there was not even a slight second line. I know a second line does not mean a positive but it does mean that the hormones are starting to pick up. Hopefully CD9 was just to early for the test. Doing another after work
