Andy : You beat me to it - was about to type out practicaly the same explanation!
As you say, it's NOT the lap itself that does any cleaning. They use the lap more to check for the endo etc. If they find endo, they then laser it off (the parts they can get to), but that's the only cleaning that happens there.
The D&C is the cleaning part - that cleans the uterus out.
So SNAP on the explanation - you can see who of us have had these procedures down to a fine art hey

SH : NOT happy not being able to BD away right now. I'm at work right now, and I shouldn't be. My head is ready to burst!!!!

They had to do the lap, to remove the cyst that was there in my one ovary...and yes, I had the two incisions. That hurt, didn't know about them going in through the vajayjay though But low and behold, I was TTC from Jan 2010 and in May got the lap...and was pregnant in June. But then again, the cyst was the blockage, most likely causing me not to ovulate!

Hayley and Heksie, it's not the lap that makes you more fertile... They actually usually do 3 procedures when they say they're doing a lap:

1. The Laporoscopy is when they go in through a small incision just under your belly button to view your uterus from the top to check for endo and growth etc. They also make a small cut just above your pubic bone to view the uterus from the "side".

2. A Hysteroscopy - they use a coloured fluid that they squirt up your vajayjay and into your uterus so that they can see if your tubes are open.

3. They do a D&C at the same time, also obviously through your vajayjay. And it's THIS that's supposed to make you more fertile.

Nothing to report from my side. Spotting still going, much less than last week, but I haven't had a normal AF yet, so who knows what going on.

SexyHexy, i was just wondering where you have been Glad to hear the BD marathon is on the go for you So those Soy Isoflavones really do something!?!?

My gynie said a lap doesn't make you more fertile, but I proved him wrong...got pregnant the month after the lap - with twins!!

TaNasha, when they do a Lap they are supposed to clean you out and it should make you more fertile... We shall see
