I must say that having a baby didn't cross my mind when I had the op. I was so scared of the thought of cancer I went ahead with it.

Morning sickness after the op is really horrible. The worst thing ever and I have been through alot.

Aspoestertjie...he he, ja, we are defnitely the tougher species.

Julz, I also wondered about doing the op before TTC, knowing that the reflux will be better, but went with Dr's opinion. Either way, I think it is condition one has to live with and make the best of it.
During my pregnancy it was my motto to say:
"you can do this!!" ha ha, it was very funny, me sounding like a motivational speaker...

Gloeiwurmpie, the truth is that my Hubby is too much of a "baby" to do the op. He would rather not eat at all than have the op.

And there I was, having to go through natural birth!

Maybe I should have a c-sec next time round just to freak him out!

Just wanted to give my condolence to everyone who had to suffer that EXTRA bit during pregnancy.

I am a very healthy person with no "medical conditions", and I do suffer during pregnancy - with the normal stuff like MS, aches and pains.

Don't know how you guys did (do) it, but I have so much respect and admiration for all of you!!

I will definately try to remember you guys and what you went through when I start feeling sorry for myself (once again) - could be in about 10 minutes or so....

Yip one plus to having the op was no reflux during pregnancy.

I also had a serious hernia so they repaired it at the same time. My surgeon says the op should hold for another 4 years so it lasts about 8-10 years but he did a fairly loose wrap becuase I can't swallow properly.

I choke on water sometimes.

Aspoestertjie, you are dead right. It worsens with weight increase, hence the condition being worse with the extra weight one puts on during pregnancy. The baby also pushes your stomach upwards, with that valve being "pushed" open even more. Not fun times, I tell you.

Watching your diet as you mentioned is very important. Through the years I know which foods in what combination will worsen my symptons, seeing a dietician is very important if you plan to make the best of this situation.
