Thanks Deja, my heart goes out to those poor people. I'm crying as I read the mom's response.

That can happen to anyone, I'd rather have my child alive than some colours in netball. She can always try out next year again, but health comes first. One day she'll respect you for you decision, and she will realise you did it because you love her.

Some teachers.......I would report them if I were you!!

I just did an article today, which reminded me of this thread. It is so very sad. I will post the link tomorrow.

BUT a 17-year-old very healthy, fit, rugby-playing athlete died yesterday from heart failure after he had the flu. He was booked off school, he got better. He kicked a ball around with his dad, very calm and not using a lot of effort. He went to take a bath and his mom found him dead in the bath.

I agree with Claudia, I would be livid. This just goes to show that you really need to look after your body when you are sick. I'm not an expert, anything but, and I don't say this will happen to anyone else. But I won't take the chance.

So Butterflies, you are NOT paranoid.

Seriously???? Your kid was off school and now back the teachers want her to play despite the fact that she is still coughing?
She is in the B team? If she was that important to the schools netball she would be in the A.

Go to the doc, get a note and then lay a formal complaint with the headmaster. I would be LIVID.

But then today I had a huge fight with the rugby coach at a local high school that was giving one of his players (Who has a tear in one of his knee ligaments) a hard time about missing practice (despite me having written a medical certificate). I think that maybe school teachers forget that they are there to teach....
