Not sure if that was really the cause but I tried putting Lilly on her baby gym for the first time last week and she screamed blue murder that night, like a real colic attack...now it's safely back in the cupboard ;)

Yes Dylan was very sensitive to stimulation so I didn't do too much early on. i did a baby massage course which he loved and still likes touch. That was great, but other than that I held back on the baby gym etc until he was over his colic. I then took him to baby at 5 months I think it was and it was great fun and very informative. Girly if you want Geraldine's number I will send it to you. She did the baby massage course too.

signs when baby are over stimulated:
they yawn, look away or start crying. some even falls asleep!
another way of stimulating baby in the early weeks is to carry them in different ways around the house.
like face down, looking over your shoulder, on the left side then the right. if your not breast feeding feed baby on alternate sides of you.
they are also interested in faces. keep your hairstyle the same for a while because babies tend to not see the detail of your face yet just outlines. you can also accentuate features like lips and eyes with make-up.

Girly, that's adorable! I still feel like that sometimes! MUST give this little miracle the best advantage. At this age babies love faces! Your face and smell and voice is their favourite! Plus they tend to like the same music you were listening to when you were preggies. Also when my baby was overstimulated I would swaddle him and put him in his cot with some white noice and just leave him for a minute. This would instantly make him sleep. For now they still miss your womb.

Oh and about the dummy - you could try dipping it in some gripe/glycerine and see if that helps her to suck a bit longer. Otherwise have you tried a taglet? I have one which C kinda likes, but I think I got it too late so she's so attached to her dummy that the taglet is more like a toy.

Girly I discovered one day when C was very small that she actually preferred sleeping on her side. It was the weirdest thing. She used to fight and fight and fight and then one day I put her on her side and she dropped off to sleep immediately. Kicked myself for not doing it sooner. I used a wedge to make sure that she couldn't roll onto her tummy. Might be worth a try. I also used to sit and gently brush my fingers across her forehead. This worked like a charm. I still do it today if she's fussy.
