Nicky you are so right and yes parents should take responsibility. I keep Dylan away from daycare and kindermusik if he is sick out of decency to other parents and their kids.

We had to go away and another couple's kid had chickenpox and she asked if anyone would mind and I said I did. I dont want to put Dylan at harm knowingly.

Thanks ladies ,

I know I can't keep Liebe in a bubble and I will not there is certain germs that you can not keep away from her and I can deal with those onces as it will build her immune system. It's the children they kiss her in her face , this one kiddy had a colesore(spelling) and she wanted to freaking kiss Liebe , I told her not to and a few moments later she wanted to do it again , I can not sit here and tell you every 5 min not to do something. That's what is upsetting me , when you come to my house and you know you have a thing that is infectious and you want to kiss my baby or when you touch the freaking dogs.Be considerate if you are sick or have some infectious thing. If you touch my baby with clean hands fine I don't mind. I don't go and cook after putting out the rubbish or playing with the cat. It is people that do not have the basic hygiene skills like washing your hands after the loo , after touching animals, putting your hand in front of your mouth when coughing . I mean my mom taught this to me. I think it's not the germs it self , I have a problem with people who do not practice basic hygiene. It's like a lady who should not go walking in the street late at night as she is looking of for trouble.Same with germs , if you wash your hands you can prevent something even if it is just a cold.

I am quite relaxed about germs etc. I really had no problem with the odd person touching Dylan, but preferably not his hands or face.

The fact is that yes viruses are passed on from touch and yes young babies have lower immune system, but I can't keep Dylan in a bubble.

I think his immune system is actully quite good due to him being out in the open and around other kiddies etc and being touched.

I do try and keep him away from friends if they are sick etc as that is putting him at obvious risk.

A complete lack of exposure to germs can actually cause more harm and yes when they start to crawl it is more difficult.

I am one of the more relaxed mamas when it comes to germs. I did not really mind if people I knew handled my child, but I do not allow strangers to touch them - really bugs me when complete strangers come up to you in a shop and get all touchy feely

As for things on the floor - if it is at our house, I let them chew away, if we are in a public area - NO WAY.

As for other children, well I understand how curious a moving doll seems to them, so I allowed it, just monitored how they touched them ie made sure no-one got hurt

Oooo I remember when Megan was born - for me the biggest thing was when someone would touch her hands! I hated that as she kept putting her hands in her mouth. And I did tell them not to do it. I don't think you are being too obsessed. When your baby is older her immune system will be stronger.

I know you aren't the only one who feels like this, so don't feel too bad about it.

I'd call myself laid back about this particular topic. It’s not that I don’t sometimes cringe when someone touches B, even now. But I just let it slide and if it bothers me a lot I’ll grab a wet wipe when the person is out of sight. But for the most part, with B crawling around I’d rather spend my time playing with her than making sure that her environment is germ free. (you know the “our house is clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy”) And she is super healthy. For the most part I’m more concerned about all the chemicals in the air from super healthy cleaning than a couple of germs.

That said, just the other day a random person in a store took the toy she was chewing from her then gave it back to her and I took it from her thinking I’d wash it later….uhm, I don’t remember which toy it is but when I do remember I’ll wash it!
