Huggies vs Pampers

I used to be a Huggies Gold mom UNTIL they launched the new dark green JUMBO packs (my experience is on the No3 H/Gold). The nappies is thinner, it is not absorbing as well as it used to and although the colour rubbed off on Liam's legs and clothes. Everything was stained in greeninsh blue colour, his legs looked as if was bruised. and to top it all i had to change my lil one during the night - never used to in the old days (when HUGGIES were good). now if you don't change your lil one, he wets everything

I lodged a complaint with Huggies and spoke to a lady called Janet. I suggest everyone do the same.

The lady said that that the nappies is thinner due to 'new' environmentally friendly techiniques being used...bla bla bla and it is not suppose to leak as much as i said it did....she even suggested that i put my 6.4kg baby in Huggies newborn as the no 3's might be to big for him. So if it is more environmentally friendly, WHY use more colourants to brighten up the nappy. AND HOW environmentally friendly is nappies that rub off against clothes and my lil one's legs??? surely comon sense tells you that that is not sound environmental practice and the cumulative effect of those nappies are.... we need to use more water (a scare comodity in a water scares land) and use more detergent (most people don't use biodigradable products) and more nappies are being used....thus more going to the landfill sites...

Huggies will be sending vouchers to me - which i will exchange for pampers nappies. I am dissapointed with huggies and will not be using them again AND i will not recommend people to use them. (this after i was a Huggies Gold mom with baby no 1)

Almost out of the Huggies Dry Comfort, going to my MIL later, she works at a wholesalers and she bought me Huggies Gold Jumbo Pack nappies for R99.99, staff discount getting 3 packs size 3 as that is what she's fitting into now...i've used this before & I must say I it works well for Sani!
I saw at Canal Walk last week at checkers that the Huggies Gold was going for R149.00 for the Jumbo Packs?

For all you Pampers users, Dischem was having a massive sale with wipes, people in the store were going mad, 3 per customer, cant remember the price, sorry not sure if it's still on though, saw this at the Canal Walk branch...

Liz - I see you mentioned the Ackermans nappies - tried them when she was just born 'n nope, doesn't work well at all! The cCddlers is also another nappy I haven't tried but Huggies, so far so good

I used to buy a pack of whatever was on special when I was still pregnant so ended up using both.

I find the pampers fits better than the huggies as it "stretches" more. I find the huggies thicker and stronger but less flexible.

i have only used pampers with my daughter and i had no probs, but when my son came i also used pampers but every time he had one wee it started to leak and the gel inside the nappy started to come out and was everywhere. i thought maybe it was just that one pack, manufactures fault, but it continued to happen with every pack that i bought afterwards, so now he is on huggies and i have got no complaints.
i think it depends on each child.

Nice, consumers need to kick back! You buy a product thinking you are getting, at the very least the standard that you're use to, and at the price! A friend of mine use to buy the dry naps from huggies, the red pack and she use to take back a bad nappy and get R40 off her next pack every time. You were also right btw, those are to small for him

Memo you are so right about the new huggies! I bought the 2 pack special from baby city on sunday and i'm so disappointed. Liam used the nappies yesterday and today he has his first nappy rash! The colour also ran onto his vest. The new packs also have less nappies than before and so do the wipes. I'm going to call them tomorrow and give them an earful.
