Anina, the writer of the english or american (don't remember now) sleepsense book actually recommends that you keep your baby in a crib till 2.5 years of age and if you have another before then both should be in a crib.

My son is 10 months old and still very comfy in his cot. He crawls around a lot while sleeping and gets into all kinds of funny positions. I would like to keep him in his cot as long as he is already climbing everything so climbing over railings in a bed will be a certainty.

My only problem now is that nr 2 is coming in early Nov, so if nr 1 is still in the cot, where is nr 2 going to go? I don't want him giving up his bed to the new baby as just getting a sibling will be a big enough change already. So I thought if I want to move him into a bed, I must do it soon before new baby arrives so he won't associate the change with the baby. What do you think?

My daughter is 10 months - I only use a campcot when we go away for the weekend, and I have noticed that she does not sleep as soundly in that as she does in her cot.

But it might be because it is a different sleeping situation, and not related to comfort/suitability of the camp cot.

My daughter is in a large cot at the moment, that will accommodate her until she is three if I pushed my luck. I would prefer to keep her in a cot until she is 2 1/2 or so, to prevent the getting out of bed by herself problem.

I know you can move a child to a bed earlier if you have the support rails, but I like to keep them in their beds, rather than worrying about them getting out and moving around without me knowing about it.

It is quite important that she goes to bed at a particular time, and in cot, I do not have the problem of having to fight to keep her in it.

i put chloe straight into a bed at a year old with the railing to help her no fall off but i saw on the pampers thread a few moms didnt like that idea, it worked for us and when she used to get out we would just take her back but for some reason THEY JUST LOVE SLEEPING IN OUR BEDS ;)

I need some advise. I have noticed my LB of 9 months gets so uncomfortable in his camping cot. He twists and turns the whole time he is in there and I think he needs more space. He does a large Graco Pack & Play so it isnt a small cot. If we put him in our bed, he doesnt complain as he has lots of space but then me or BF sleeps uncomfortably. I have thought of getting a wooden single bed made for him with railings on all 4 sides but what happens when he gets older and climbs out. He is going to fall. Has anyone experienced the same problem?
