Hi
There are loads of schools you can look at in this area
My advice to you is collect a list and drive around checking them out.. firstly on your own and then secondly with the kids when you have a short list.. Your instinct is Number 1, I have learned that even close friends and myself have different ideas of what you want a school to be.
Schools I looked at were
Fourways Junior College and Fourways Gardens Junior college, Shining Stars, Buttercup, Magic Beans and Lonehill Village Creche. I am at the last one.. I have friends who are happy with each of these..
Go in the morning around 9 - 10am so that you see the teaching enviroment and the nannies in action before all the kids sleep anywhere from 11am - 12h00 am
Things to ask -
1. What is the belief for discipline?
2. How are medicines handled?
3. How are incidents handled?
4. Who looks after the kids in the afternoon and where?
5. Where do they sleep?
6. When does the school close during the year?
7. Is there holiday care?
8. Is the holiday care extra?
9. For the 3yr old, what extra sports or classes?
10. Do they report in a book on daily eat, sleep, poop etc
11. What else does the parent need to provide to the school?
12. what are registration and deposit fees?
and then also notice for yourself - are the children clean, are most happy? Do they all look sick? Is the teacher affectionate with them or too stern with them? Are the kids being called by name? Are some children being neglected in the backgrounds? Does the teacher watch the kids while she talks to you - you want someone who keeps an eye on them ALL the time!
I have moved schools once and my son is 2.3yrs old. I am at Lonehill Village and my son LOVES it.. I have had one or two issues there like any school but they have been resolved quickly.
I have a friend looking for A DAY MOTHER in northriding, fourways, sundowner area so please keep an eye out?
