file Preschool/ Creche in Fourways Area??

Sher, out of all the places I've seen it is definitely in a class of its own. Junior College Gardens and Buttercup - don't know if you went there? Only thing with Buttercup is that the "creche" is so far away from where the bigger kids are - totally different building and playground and I would want my son to at least be able to see his sister for a few minutes a day. At Gardens at least the little ones would sometimes go out in the same playground too (and my daughter would soon move up a class once walking properly anyway) and then see her brother a lot more on the playground, so in this respect it is better.

I have gone to go look at a few more places to see if I can find a "smaller" place where there are less kids per class but I've been seriously disappointed. There is only 1 spot left for my son at Gardens so I better make a decision ASAP.

I agree with you that some of the places look like orphanages... so depressing. One would think that with the very expensive prices out here the quality should be excellent but that doesn't seem to be the case at all!

Thanks for replying, really appreciate it :-)

Hi

I live in Broadacres. The broadacres nursey dont take 4 months babies, so we have a nanny now for 6 months but when K was born, well before i visited few creches, and everyone looked like a orphanage and did not feel it...i just did not like it, been to Opti Baby, and about 3 other creches..cant remember now

the one i liked most was jnr college gardens but had no space and I was on the waiting list for like 7 months and had no choice but to get a nanny....

if i had a choice i would send my baby now to jnr college gardens. their fees are expensive though, they like R3000+ for 1 child exc little incurred costs.

other than that, its cost the almost same to pay a nanny....

just having two kids would be much harder and expensive

let me know what you thought of jnr college gardens

Not sure which they said was full, but there was only space for one of them.

I must say this looking for schools is depressing. So far I've been seriously disappointed.

I thought the Broadacres Farm School would be fab... but what a letdown. The baby area is like a gloomy, little hole with the tiniest most aweful little outdoor play area. The older kids have such stunning outdoor area's but seriously, I would not leave my little one in that creche area. I also noticed that a few very small kiddies were all over large jungle gyms etc with nobody even watching them from a distance... which does bother me, even though it is "holidays" for them, still! I also think because the school is so HUGE, they can never be 100% watchful or know what is going on. I honestly thought this would be my favourite.. but the creche put me off totally and there were other things too which were disappointing.

I've also now visited Junior College Fourways, Kim Fields Academy, Robin Preschool, Merry Days, Little Saints and Buttercup.

Honestly, so far the best overall is probably Buttercup. I dunno though, I guess I'm just sad that none of the places won me over and made me feel "this is the one". I'm going to pop out to Jnr College Gardens just now... and see.

They're full! Only preschool I've called that say they don't have space for both my kiddies. Must be a nice school :-)

That is friggen expensive but that seems to be the norm in this area. Luckily they cover most holidays which is a bonus :-)

R3050 per month for full days VERRRYYY EXPENSIVE - Way more than we can afford, but we just did it!! at the moment, they only close for december for a full month so they dont charge for that month, so its for 11 months only.. Its quite nice in december to have extra money.. but some of it goes towards child care.. as I cant get THAT Much leave :) most holidays they dont charge for holiday care though..
