Thank you kaye. It hasn't got smaller, its bigger but no pain. If its a cyst i hope i don't have to give up breast feeding cos its very important to me to continue with cos im on unpaid maternity leave and don't have money for formula etc. I don't even have bottles.

Fawhaway has the lump got smaller at all? I also had mastitis and engorgement in the first week of breastfeeding - physio was a huge help. And then 2 weeks ago (my son is now 10 months) I developed a lump in my breast. panicking that it was a blocked duct or start of mastitis again I went to the dr. Turns out it was actually a cyst, under the skin and in the tissue, which is why I couldn't get it smaller through feeding son, applying heat and cold compresses etc.

So if the lump is still there even after antibiotics (thats what cleared it for me), rather go see your dr again.

Im nearly done with 8 days of anti biotics. The lump hasn't gone. I have given up on trying to get rid of it and always feed baby off that breast 1st. He is now a month old. The redness comes and goes. Ill call my doctor later today and see what she says. There is no cyst as of yet. Its no longer painfull thank heavens.

Fawhaway, how are you doing?

I got lumps all.the.time. It was SO Sore, my boobs were rock hard. Nothing I did relieved it.

I put a LOT of heat pressure on before baby drank. Then I would get baby to drink when she is sleepy and does not realise she is sucking on the "blocked" boob. That helped.

Also physio, physio, physio and physio! I went for so many physio sessions, it's not even funny. And I breastfed till 14 months.

I had mastitis as well. It was really bad. I was on antibiotics for a week. They did not work. It got worse. Then i was referred to medi clinic for an operation.

It was the worst time of my life as i had to take tablets that stop the milk from coming out. As a result, i had to stop breastfeeding. I cried so much because my baby loved to be breast fed and she was only 8 weeks old.

The operation itself isn't bad. Only when they remove the bandage. (they don't stitch it close- put bandage inside it to drain the yukky stuff).

Sterkte. How old is your baby?

Oh no sweetpea :-( I know that feeling all too well, way too well if you ask me.

I do not wish it upon my worst enemy - wait actually I do.

Unfortuanately the only thing that does help is babies sucking....please try and get him to suck, if not a breastfeeding consultant would do the trick.

It was the only thing that worked for me, my baby wouldnt latch on either....

Keep strong my love, It sure is AWEFULL! :-(

Thanks for your help. Will only see results after 3 days so thats only tomorrow. Yaz thanks for the numbers. Im out at my parents for now and spoke to one of the ll ladies and she kept telling me that i must see a breast consultant. She has gone to america now on 3 weeks holiday. The more i wanted to see her the more she kept telling me i must see this other lady. So i have given up for now and doing my own thing to try resolve this problem.
