When do you eat your EASTER EGGS????

We had so much fun watching my nieces & nephews running about the garden looking for the easter eggs we had hidden away. They had so much fun counting & comparing the number of eggs they had each found and obviously eating them as well,

the eggs look cool!
We also hide our eggs and hunt for them, we just hide and hunt for the chocolate ones!

I don't think anyone in SA uses real eggs. Chocolate is soooo much yummier!

Huggles- Thanks. We do chocolate too, just in addition to the eggs! There's something special about dying and hunting eggs...we only do it once a year, whereas we might buy chocolate whenever. The eggs, though, that is only at Easter. We'll go outside, hide them, let the kids hunt them, pile them all back into a basket and do it again! As many times as it takes until the kids are tuckered out.

Also, I agree. Easter is Sunday. Actually, in the church calendar, the entire week is Easter. We call Monday "Easter Monday," but the Catholic Church then calls Tuesday "Easter Tuesday" and so on through the whole week. But technically Easter is Sunday and super-technically, the celebration of Easter begins at sundown on Saturday night.

P.S. We dyed eggs this morning and they are in the refrigerator now. I'm attaching a picture of today's finished eggs.

I think people are quite confused these days, as Easter has become more commercialised and has lost its meaning to a lot of people.

For the Christians among us, Easter is an even bigger celebration than Christmas. Easter takes place on the 3rd day, which from my understanding is on Sunday (there is some confusion about Sunday vs Monday).

Today is Good Friday. It is a day of remembrance, of reflection upon the loss and the sacrifice that was made for us by Christ. It is a holy day, and traditionally we fast on holy days. Fasting either takes the form of not eating at all, or avoiding eating animal flesh. (Here the pickled fish comes in - another story, but I won't go into it)

Sunday, being Easter, is a day of celebration. It is the day He rose, leaving the cave empty. Hollowed Easter eggs are symbolic of the empty cave. This is why it is supposed to be eaten on Sunday, but of course, very few of us can resist that Lindt bunny for so long.

i have always grown up thinking of sunday as easter. The easter weekend is fri-monday, but easter itself is sunday and therefore the easter eggs are hunted and eaten on sunday.
Today, however, for the first time in 30 years, i have had 3 people wish me Happy easter today, friday, and it has totally confused me because in my mind easter is only on sunday.
