Thanks Jana for being proud. :)
Gloei that's very interesting. Because I have been using these annoying lactase drops for over a week now and he still gets cramps. I think I'll stop with that now. Over it. The chiropractor...not so sure. Hubby will no be keen on that. He thinks chiropractors just money makers and cause more damage. I am not sure how I feel about it.
Our baby likes the wrap but when he has had enough of it then that's that. Same with the dummy.

Will give it another day or two and then take another eglonyl. Just try to manage baby one step at a time

Faffymum - I am so glad to hear you managed to get some sleep. I know if you are not getting any rest it is hard to keep up milk supply.

My breastfeeding book mentions that there is no proof or evidence that Lactase enzymes help at all. Another opinion on the smorgasbord for you. I am kind of a firm believer in Probiotics and that is about it. More than one Pead told me that I am wasting my money on those Colic drops...don't know who to listen to?!

From what I have read a Chiropractioner is a good idea. Often after 3 treatments there may be improvement. Don't know if you have someone who can take you to an appointment? I know it must be hard to go to an appointment when you feel just getting out of bed is an achievement.

Some babies like white noise. We have the Babysense womb to world on repeat 24/7. B)

Have you tried swadling your baby? Some babies love it others not so much.

I think it can be so overwhelming to get advise from different areas and not knowing what to do, who to listen to. In the end you must trust your gut instinct (and perhaps accept it is a bit of trail and error). Both you and hubby were chosen to be the parents to that specific baby for a reason. xx

Faffy, my midwife suggested a natural product for cramps, which I suggested to a friend and it worked really well for her. Bonnycare from Tibbs.

I agree with Gloei, these first few weeks can be super hectic and takes out so much from you. You are also recovering and hormones are soaring!

I found with my first baby I would go to the doctor for any little thing. It completely stressed me out. It's so uncomfortable going out, baby is exposed to germs etc. With Neva, I didn't bother going to the doctor, because as mothers I believe we will know if something is really wrong. Babies do get cramps but again, you are doing amazing! Pat yourself on the back and know you are doing your best. I am proud of you!

(I'd still do the chiro though. :P )

Thanks gloei.
We had a much better night last night. We both took a 2 hour nap at around 8pm and I had good milk for him after that. I don' want to take him to a doctor to check out his cramps. At the moment we give him lactase enzyme to help digest lactose and a pro biotic. Not sure if it's helping or if this is even his problem. Sometimes I think his cramps are the reason he is fussy on the breast and nothe always satisfied after drinking. But I just don't know. The clinic sister suggested Bennett colic mixture but I don't like the alcohol in it. Anyways, just not sure if his cramps are normal or if there is something wrong.

Can't wait until it's easier.

Hubby does help and he cooks dinner. But he also works all day so he is also tired and often takes baba in the evening too. So housework is a challenge. But I just do what I can and leave the rest.

One day at a time...

Hi Faffymum!

I would increase Eglonyl dosage if you found it was helping. I can't remember how long it took to take effect, but I remember I could always feel after x amount of time I could feel my breasts getting fuller. I would recommend increasing the dosage to 1 x three times daily (the safe dosage is MUCH higher so you can increase easily) and see how it goes.

Your idea of staying in bed with baby is great and if you can do skin to skin contact, even better. I totally agree with Jana, leave everything else and just spend time focusing on baby and trying to rest in bed. The growth spurts are INTENSE. Every one we had (Day 10 - 14, week 2 + 3 + 6) were really noticable in feeding schedules because baby was feeding suddenly almost hourly - it takes everything out of you!

If you are concerned that there might be another problem with baby it might be best to take your baby to see a Pead or trusted clinic sister to rule out any medical problems (sometimes this gives mom a bit of reassurance that baby is healthy).

I also agree with Jana about the Formula. Formula + while breastfeeding in the beginning of breastfeeding = end of breastfeeding. In rare cases when a doctor feels baby urgently needs to pick up weight formula may be prescribed, but most breastfeeding issues should be able to be resolved by lactation consultant advising on technique and support etc.

These first few weeks are pretty hectic, it really feels as if you are just barely surviving each day. It really does get easier, especially with the breastfeeding - later you just whip out the boob, feed baby in a few minutes and wind and there you go.

Hopefully hubby or someone can help with household chores so that you can only focus on baby and taking care of yourself?

I am thinking of you!!! Please let us know if things are going better!! xx

Faffy, you are coping great! Wonderful! I would really, really recommend the chiro, especially if baby was born via c-section. It is absolutely amazing.
