question-circle Gynea appointment at 6 weeks after birth

I think the 6wk checkup is quite important.. I had a piece of placenta that stayed behind and wouldnt have known if she didnt do an internal scan. It then wouldve made an infection and I would have had to have a D&C. Going for the annual checkups and things are really not that bad.. you get used to it very quickly, as long as you have a gynae you can trust and feel comfy with!

I missed a year for a check up as i didnt really feel comfortable with my gynae at the time. The following year a friend of mine told me of a lovely female GP that did papsmears so decided to go to her only to be told that i had abnormal cells. Ended up back at my not so nice gynae. 2 operations and 1 lazer procedure (with a different gynae)later (2 years later) i was given the all clear. So to cut a long story short I go to my gynae religiously once a year!

At my 6 week check up my doc checked my scar, did a papsmear and chatted to me to see how i was coping etc. I highly recommend you go

Thank you ladies for your response.

Julz I'm so glad to see you are also on this forum, would've missed you otherwise.

I am def going to go for my check-up appointment, actually can't wait as I just want to know that all is fine and want to ask her about what contraception I should go on as I really am eager to have sex again (sorry if its too much info  ) Want her to give me the A-OK before we start again!

I would definately recommend that you go for a check up. My Dr checked the scar, did a scan, pap smeer, discussed my emotional wellbeing, checked that everything was basically back to normal! All painless and necessary. He also implanted the Mirena then for birth control. Rather go and know that everything is right.

Hi there

My gynae just checked the scar, did a papsmear and did an internal scan to insert the loop.

My gynae checked my scar (emergency c section) did a pap smear and discussed birth control with me. It was all very quick and painless. After going through labour and then a c section it was actually a huge relief!

LG born at Milnerton MC on the 09/12/2009 by emergency c-section.
