Thanx Julz, I expected it to be harder!

Both my hubby and I are very calm people so it may be the reason. Apparently I was also such a good baby too :P

Bit worried that the next one will be a terror though (thats if we have another).

Who is Dylan's pead again? We had Gerrit De Villiers at the hospital so we are planning on sticking with him.

How is Dylan doing?

I know.

Bundle you do realise that alot of mommies (well me anyway) are secretly totally jealous of your son's awesomeness.

I am really thrilled that it is going so well with you. You always were pretty calm though so I guess calm mommy = calm baby.

Off topic but damn Bundle.. you are one lucky momma... he's settled into a nice feeding routine nice and early and with a long stretch already!!! With my son at the newborn stage he fed every 1.5-2.5 hours and now my daughter was on every 2 hours (around the clock) the last few days. She seems to be going back to every 3 so it was probably a growth spurt and/or the fact that she was thirsty due to her cold she had so I'm pleased about that. I don't mind the fact that there is no long stretch, or if she feeds more often.. as long as she goes back to bed after feedign in the middle of the night and I don't have to walk the passages rocking her, lol, I'm a happy camper.

Julz - it just goes to show, we never know what will actually be the best regarding having support closeby - until the time comes.

Being at home after hospital was the best feeling in the world, I could do things at my own pace (ok at babies pace!) I demand fed so baby woke up when hungry, he is in a very good pattern already where he feeds every 3 hours during the day and at night the one feed is after 5-6 hours so I get some nice sleep!

Its very useful knowing when he will feed as I have sometime in between to do things and can plan around it.

As for visitors, the first weekend home we told everyone that we need time together as a family - much needed! And then we said we would let them know when they could visit, obviously family we let come over sooner and friends we only had them around after a week or two. My boy is now 3 weeks, there are still come people that want to come over and see him and I do find it tiring as I have to plan it around feeding time and then they want to hold him, he is generally asleep and then wakes up when the people hold him so that is a nuisence!

But other than that I am loving my time with my boy, he has been really easy so has made the transition into mommyhood easy for me.

:P

My whole family live in the UK. My mom wanted to come over for the birth and I told her not to. I think she was hurt but I just wanted to bond with my new little family.

Turns out I could have really done with lots of support. Dylan came 2 weeks early and things didn't go well and we were building still.

Now that I think back it was horrible.

As for visitors, my friends know not to visit unless they call first and they kept their distance for the first couple of weeks.

I wasn't in good shape but I forced myself to allow guests to visit as it made me get up and pull myself together. My closest friend was amazing thought this time.

Gosh, I guess I'm lucky, nobody was ever really pushy about visiting so soon. That would not have been cool at all!

Luckily neither my mum or inlaw suggested coming to stay. I know lots of people love doing it this way but I guess we just feel it is our new addition and we need to figure the baby out and get to know each other on our own terms first... without other people's interferences.

Having said that, now that I had my second things were a bit different - no lazing in bed or sitting around staring at my new baby because I have a two year old toddler at home with me all day who is used to having me attend to him 24/7. It is quite an adjustment I must say but thank GOODNESS my toddler still has a nap each day!
