Well i am in the same boat... Gia has been ill now for just over a month and still has her Croup cough .... she had croup in April.

She has a contsant runny nose a fever every other day. The paed told me if the fever is below 38 degrees they are not too concerned. I am concerned!!! I have been to him about 6 times in the last 3 months at R500.00 a visit  . My child is still so ill. The last he told me she had an ear infection prescibed antibiotics. the next week she had an eye infection he faxed me a prescription. The cough is so bad...people turn around and glare at me like i am not looking after her properly. :(

My last resort was taking her to an iridologist - he reads the eye and prescibes homeopathic meds which she is now on. I go back to see him on Monday. I just wish something would work. I hate seeing her so ill and looking like her cheeks are fire.

Paeds of today are all in it for the $$$ there is no concern and no kindness. its actually irritating that after spending so much money the child is as ill as the first time i took her to him.

I know the feeling of lost sleep... I am so drained as she sleeps by me most of the night. She is uncomfortable and irritable and just wants mummy. What more can i do... im at my wits end with money leaching doctors.

Babies generally are more fussy at night...just as we feel worse when its bed time.

Continue giving her the meds and I use Rinex generally clears up a snotty nose really quickly.

Hang in there...it will pass and if it persists for another 3 nights then take her to the GP for a second opinion.

Ashlee had a cold about 2 months ago, dr also didn't want to prescribe antibiotics. It took about a week for it to clear up, it was bad, they way you have described, for about 3-4 days.

Have you thought of taking her to a homeopath? There is a really really good homeopath in Centurion, I used to take Amy to him, and I was totally amazed at his results. Within a day she would be better. He can also tell you whether it is allergies, or just a cold. Let me know if you would like his contact details.

Perhaps a second opinion? Perhaps try your family GP and not a paed. I have personally had enough of paeds, they are so expensive and their advice does not make any sense half the time. Have been taking E to my GP for all her check-ups and when she was ill.

Perhaps it is an allergy -- which would make sense why it is worse at night. I think we used Vibrocil (blue and green box) nose drops for a runny nose / and allergies. It really seems to work for us.

But really -- 3 months is waaay to long! Don't know how you have been managing?! xx

Hannah has a cold and during the day she is a happy little thing, except she has snot running out her nose, then at night she turns into this little monster with very loud lungs

She's awake every 2 and half hours screaming blue murder because her nose is stuffy and she can't suck her dummy, she cant drink properly and obviously she can't sleep properly. and I'm sure the cold weather also plays a role in the early morning hours! Oh, and I think she's teething.

so it seems to take forever and a mixture of cuddles, rocking, dummy, milk and my bed to get her to sleep again and then it feels like she's just fallen asleep and it starts all over again!

She's on Illiadin and Nurofen and I neb her with saline, but the doc says if she doesn't have fever and she doesn't have green snollies, then hes not going to give antibiotics.

She even wakes Mia up (which really takes some doing as she sleeps like a log)!!

How long does a snotty nose cold normally last? She's been like this for the last 3 nights.
